The 52-year-old is satisfied with the technical team currently assembled at Woking. After a fantastic eighteen months of development, it is unsurprising that McLaren are not looking for major changes.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Brown: Newey is not needed at McLaren<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Adrian Newey&#8217;s future is understandably a huge talking point. At one stage, McLaren were mentioned as a team in contention to sign the British engineer.<\/p>\n<p>That said, these reports were predominantly in the immediate aftermath when Newey&#8217;s Red Bull departure was announced.<\/p>\n<p>Since then, McLaren have not been seriously linked to the 65-year-old.<\/p>\n<p>According to <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/motorsports\/2024\/07\/15\/zak-brown-underperforming-perez-gives-mclaren-title-hopes\/\" target=\"_self\">Zak Brown<\/a>, his services are not required in the team:<\/p>\n<p><em>&#8220;We&#8217;re not going to sign Adrian,&#8221; <\/em>the McLaren boss told the <a  href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/sport\/articles\/clynnlndevjo\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">BBC<\/a><em>.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>&#8220;I&#8217;m very happy with the team. Adrian is a great friend, huge talent, [his] resume second to none.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>&#8220;But with what we have in place here, I couldn&#8217;t be happier.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>&#8220;We can get the job done. I&#8217;m happy with the race team we have and we&#8217;re going to try to win the world championship with the team sitting here today.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n<p><a id=\"a_RcO59wQNZlUx5ydw1GoQ\" class=\"gie-single\" style=\"color: #a7a7a7; text-decoration: none; font-weight: normal !important; border: none; display: inline-block;\" href=\"http:\/\/www.gettyimages.com\/detail\/2163932968\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Embed from Getty Images<\/a><script>window.gie=window.gie||function(c){(gie.q=gie.q||[]).push(c)};gie(function(){gie.widgets.load({id:'a_RcO59wQNZlUx5ydw1GoQ',sig:'ndEcv_jGjsTgfXIq0AWL1X-K-5NWKkL5j7t_cewzoZ4=',w:'594px',h:'396px',items:'2163932968',caption: true ,tld:'com',is360: false })});<\/script><script src='\/\/embed-cdn.gettyimages.com\/widgets.js' charset='utf-8' async><\/script><\/p>\n<h3><strong>Newey likely headed to Aston Martin<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>All indications suggest that Newey&#8217;s final destination in Formula 1 will be <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/motorsports\/2024\/08\/06\/aston-martin-are-the-favourites-to-sign-adrian-newey\/\" target=\"_self\">Aston Martin<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Lawrence Stroll has been working on this move for months, and Aston&#8217;s poor development in 2024 is just another reason to strengthen the team&#8217;s technical department.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/motorsports\/2024\/08\/06\/fred-vasseur-next-races-will-be-much-better-for-ferrari\/\" target=\"_self\">Ferrari<\/a> are essentially ruled out of contention in the race for Newey, with negotiations reaching a standstill.<\/p>\n<p>Much like McLaren, <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/motorsports\/2024\/08\/06\/ferrari-in-talks-with-former-mercedes-technical-director\/\" target=\"_self\">the Italian squad<\/a> are willing to retain their existing structure.<\/p>\n<p>With both teams regularly contending for victories, small tweaks &#8211; rather than complete overhauls &#8211; are the preferred course of action.<\/p>\n<p>For Aston Martin, however, signing someone of such calibre is seen as a necessary move ahead of the 2026 regulation changes.<\/p>\n<p>McLaren will look to build upon the MCL38&#8217;s foundation and mount a Championship charge.<\/p>\n<p>Elsewhere on the grid, an announcement on Adrian Newey can be expected in the coming weeks.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>McLaren are not pursuing Adrian Newey, confirms their CEO, Zak Brown.
