Unfortunately for the Frenchman, the Enstone-based team continues to struggle. Both from a performance and structural standpoint, there is a long road ahead for Alpine.<\/p>\n<p>Of course, there have been moments of promise for Alpine scattered throughout the season.<\/p>\n<p>Alpine scored points at four consecutive events between Monaco and Austria, unlocking more performance from the A524.<\/p>\n<p>A combination of upgrades and weight-saving measures were a welcome boost for the team.<\/p>\n<p>However, there is still a significant gap to the likes of Aston Martin, <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/motorsports\/2024\/07\/21\/ricciardo-furious-with-vcarb-strategy-ill-bite-my-tongue\/\" target=\"_self\">VCARB<\/a> and Haas.<\/p>\n<p>This is without even mentioning the likes of <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/motorsports\/2024\/08\/02\/mclaren-reveal-bold-upgrade-plan-to-topple-red-bull\/\" target=\"_self\">McLaren<\/a>, who were Alpine&#8217;s rivals only eighteen months ago.<\/p>\n<p><a id=\"KpCzP4kJSxBQkQhZFSwM6Q\" class=\"gie-single\" style=\"color: #a7a7a7; text-decoration: none; font-weight: normal !important; border: none; display: inline-block;\" href=\"http:\/\/www.gettyimages.com\/detail\/2164059896\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Embed from Getty Images<\/a><script>window.gie=window.gie||function(c){(gie.q=gie.q||[]).push(c)};gie(function(){gie.widgets.load({id:'KpCzP4kJSxBQkQhZFSwM6Q',sig:'6gqI7g7cIv5dVdXTXRX8o12pPUoAy0BlyJ0p_OeXy1M=',w:'594px',h:'396px',items:'2164059896',caption: true ,tld:'com',is360: false })});<\/script><script src='\/\/embed-cdn.gettyimages.com\/widgets.js' charset='utf-8' async><\/script><\/p>\n<h3><strong>Gasly unhappy with operational efficiency<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Speaking after a frustrating Belgian GP, Pierre Gasly was candid about the need for improvement:<\/p>\n<p><em>&#8220;These are things we must review, as I know we can do a lot better as a team.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>&#8220;In recent weeks we have not been good enough and we must do better when we return to racing after the summer break.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>&#8220;It\u2019s been a tough first part of the season for us.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>&#8220;But I\u2019m pleased with some of the things we are bringing to the car.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>&#8220;We must keep finding further improvements to the car and come back hungrier to do better.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n<p><a id=\"ju_ZZS7ZT4lXGy8QkLFyXw\" class=\"gie-single\" style=\"color: #a7a7a7; text-decoration: none; font-weight: normal !important; border: none; display: inline-block;\" href=\"http:\/\/www.gettyimages.com\/detail\/2163784211\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Embed from Getty Images<\/a><script>window.gie=window.gie||function(c){(gie.q=gie.q||[]).push(c)};gie(function(){gie.widgets.load({id:'ju_ZZS7ZT4lXGy8QkLFyXw',sig:'Cnn2DTHN478s3JjhIJHf2oBk_jA5-v4N05jkiKbanDc=',w:'594px',h:'396px',items:'2163784211',caption: true ,tld:'com',is360: false })});<\/script><script src='\/\/embed-cdn.gettyimages.com\/widgets.js' charset='utf-8' async><\/script><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/motorsports\/2024\/04\/25\/gasly-alpine-still-not-competitive-enough-despite-progress\/\" target=\"_self\">Gasly<\/a> is certainly aware that big points hauls will be difficult to come by, at least in the short term.<\/p>\n<p>Fighting at the lower end of the top 10 is likely what the remainder of 2024 and 2025 have in store.<\/p>\n<p>However, this does not mean <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/motorsports\/2024\/07\/25\/alpine-to-replace-team-principal-as-part-of-major-reshuffle\/\" target=\"_self\">Alpine<\/a> should give away opportunities &#8211; especially as they scrap in the lower midfield battle.<\/p>\n<p>The 28-year-old faces the challenge of leading the French squad through this turbulent period.<\/p>\n<p>With <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/motorsports\/2024\/07\/31\/jack-doohan-leading-contender-to-join-alpine-in-2025\/\" target=\"_self\">Jack Doohan<\/a> expected to become his teammate, Gasly will become the reference at Enstone.<\/p>\n<p>Doubts inevitably accompany Alpine&#8217;s potential in F1, so eliminating unnecessary mistakes is a good first step to improving the team&#8217;s situation.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Pierre Gasly calls upon Alpine to eliminate their unforced errors Unconvinced by the other options in this year&#8217;s market, Pierre Gasly opted to sign a contract extension with Alpine.
