Whilst <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/motorsports\/2024\/07\/21\/verstappen-leads-concerns-about-red-bull-upgrades\/\" target=\"_self\">Verstappen<\/a> maintains a healthy lead in the Championship, <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/motorsports\/2024\/07\/23\/tsunoda-suffered-staggering-68g-impact-in-hungary-crash\/\" target=\"_self\">the Hungarian GP<\/a> was evidence of Red Bull&#8217;s recent decline. To make this worse, the Dutchman will likely start this weekend&#8217;s race in Belgium <strong>from further down the grid<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Penalty incoming for Max Verstappen<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Aside from the RB20&#8217;s struggles for performance, another issue is emerging at Red Bull &#8211; reliability.<\/p>\n<p>After essentially being bullet-proof from a reliability standpoint last season, <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/motorsports\/2024\/07\/21\/max-verstappen-warns-red-bull-must-wake-up\/\" target=\"_self\">Red Bull<\/a> has had a few problems in 2024.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The most recent failure was in Canada<\/strong> when Verstappen&#8217;s energy recovery system failed in Free Practice.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier in the season, a rear brake problem forced him to retire in Australia. A penalty, therefore, is imminent.<\/p>\n<p>Assuming that Red Bull changes the ICE on his RB20, <strong>a 10-second grid penalty will be given<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>However, should the Austrian outfit choose to introduce a brand new engine to their pool, a greater sanction can be expected.<\/p>\n<p>Still, the consensus (as reported by <a href=\"https:\/\/racingnews365.com\/verstappen-facing-severe-penalty-for-belgian-gp\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">racingnews365<\/a>) is that a 10-place penalty is incoming.<\/p>\n<p>Regardless of the action <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/motorsports\/2024\/07\/20\/horner-out-of-patience-with-perez-we-cant-run-on-one-leg\/\" target=\"_self\">Christian Horner&#8217;s team<\/a> choose, this weekend will be another difficult one for the 26-year-old.<\/p>\n<p>Red Bull are facing increasingly tough competition at the front.
