Valtteri Bottas is generally seen as someone with the necessary experience and accomplishments to stay in F1 next season. The Finn is understood to be on the radar of several teams<\/strong> heading into the summer break. Despite this, Bottas<\/a> admits there is some nervousness about his future.<\/p>\n

Bottas a contender, but nothing set in stone<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Until now, Williams have been the team most strongly linked to making a move for Bottas.<\/p>\n

The Finn’s chances appeared to take a boost a few weeks ago, when James Vowles<\/a> made clear he would not wait indefinitely<\/strong> for Carlos Sainz<\/a> to make a commitment.<\/p>\n

Vowles emphasised the importance of hiring a driver with belief in the team’s long-term project.<\/p>\n

This is perfectly congruent with the statements made by Valtteri Bottas throughout 2024.<\/p>\n

On numerous occasions, the 34-year-old has stressed that joining a team on a multi-year deal<\/strong> is the priority.<\/p>\n

The waiting game continues<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Unfortunately for Bottas, negotiations seem to have stagnated – as he told the media in Hungary:<\/p>\n

“Maybe waiting for Carlos [to sign a contract], but maybe not.<\/em><\/p>\n

“I mean, it’s at some point, I don’t think everyone is going to probably wait for him.<\/em><\/p>\n

“But I’m still waiting for something… <\/em>If I’m honest, I was hoping that things would be sorted before this weekend<\/strong>.<\/em><\/p>\n

“But we still have to wait for a bit. I don’t have a clear answer.<\/em><\/p>\n

“Obviously, I’m getting to the point that, hopefully [something is confirmed], sooner than later.<\/em><\/p>\n

“As everyone knows, if things drag on to the August break or after the August break, it can start to become quite nerve-racking<\/strong>.”<\/em><\/p>\n

Suggesting that Bottas cannot find a seat on next year’s grid would be a huge stretch at this stage.<\/p>\n

The 10-time race winner is well-respected in the paddock, and several teams understand the value he can provide.<\/p>\n

Although his machinery is insufficient to score points, Bottas is still outperforming teammate Zhou Guanyu<\/a>. At this stage, there is little more he can do behind the C44.<\/p>\n

Williams, much like Alpine, could benefit from his services next year.<\/p>\n

The Grove-based team remain the most likely option, especially since Esteban Ocon<\/a> is expected to join Haas.<\/p>\n

Still, this does not mean the current situation for Bottas is comfortable.<\/p>\n
