Nico Rosberg<\/strong> could find himself at the helm of Mercedes’<\/strong> latest motorsport venture with a management role in its new Formula E<\/strong> team.<\/p>\n

Nico Rosberg linked to Mercedes Formula E management role<\/h2>\n

Earlier this week, the German car giant announced that it will be joining Formula E in 2019<\/a>, shocking the motorsport world by revealing that it will leave the DTM<\/strong> series at the end of 2018 to focus on the all-electric single seater championship instead.<\/p>\n

It has been said that Nico Rosberg will be the man that Mercedes will employ to front this new venture according to Germany’s Auto Bild, with the publication claiming that a source\u00a0“in the Rosberg circle” has admitted that his involvement in a management role has not been ruled out.<\/p>\n

“Rosberg has already met with series boss Alajandro Agag in Monaco,” they claimed.<\/p>\n

If this is true, it would mean that Nico Rosberg would be the second Formula 1<\/strong> World Champion to run a Formula E team, with four time champion, Alain Prost<\/strong>, involved in the management of Renault e.dams<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

“The involvement of the car manufacturers is a strong message,” said Prost ahead of this weekend’s Montreal ePrix<\/strong> which will be this season’s title decider.<\/p>\n

When asked if the series could one day replace Formula 1 due to electric cars becoming more and more popular, Prost said\u00a0“No, I don’t think so. There is not only no reason to believe that this situation will ever occur, but also no desire. If Formula E has gained so much credibility, it’s partly because the races are in big cities like New York, Paris and now Montreal.<\/p>\n

“It’s also a way to stand out from F1,” he added.<\/p>\n

The 2016-17 Season will come to a close this weekend in Canada for the Montreal ePrix. The double header event will be the championship decider<\/a>, with Sebastien Buemi<\/strong>, Lucas di Grassi<\/strong>, Felix Rosenqvist<\/strong>, and Sam Bird<\/strong> all mathematically in range of winning the Season 3 title.
