Formula E returned with the season 10 opener at the Mexico City E-Prix<\/a>. The first race of 2024 saw Pascal Wehrlein claim the top step of the podium with a dominant drive.<\/h3>\n

Mexico City E-Prix – The first laps<\/h3>\n

The German driver secured Pole Position on Saturday morning, with the Envision of Sebastian Buem\u00ec just behind. Only twenty-one drivers took the race start, with Sergio Sette Camara unable to participate due to a technical failure on his car.<\/p>\n

The lights turned green, and the first E-Prix of 2024 kicked off. Wehrlein maintained the first position while chaos ensued behind.<\/p>\n

During the first laps, Lucas Di Grassi retired after a brake failure on his ABT Cupra. The Brazilian driver wasn’t the only one with problems, as Antonio Felix Da Costa’s Porsche stopped near the barriers.<\/p>\n

Frijns out, Safety Car in<\/h3>\n

The race took an interesting path after the DNF of Robin Frijns. The Envision driver crashed out at the exit of Foro Sol, bringing out the first Safety Car of 2024.<\/p>\n

Wehrlein, still in first, was forced to adjust strategy. The German driver took his Attack Mode under the yellow flags – with the Porsche box worried about a possible comeback from Buem\u00ec.<\/p>\n

After the Attack Mode cycle finished, Wehrlein went back to first position ahead of Buem\u00ec.<\/p>\n

A tense end to the Mexico City E-Prix<\/h3>\n

Behind Wehrlein and Buem\u00ec, Nick Cassidy ran in third position. The Jaguar was followed by the Maserati of Max Guenther, who failed to make an overtake and stayed in fourth.<\/p>\n

In the final laps, Mitch Evans was forced on the defensive in the other Jaguar.\u00a0 The Kiwi driver eventually managed to keep 5th place from Jean-Eric Vergne.<\/p>\n

The race ended with Pascal Wehrlein<\/a> claiming the first win of the season, joined by Sebastian Buem\u00ec and Nick Cassidy on the podium. Once again, Wehrlein delivered a brilliant drive in Mexico City.<\/p>\n
