After this takeover, Formula 1 boss, Bernie Ecclestone has said that he has been asked to stay on in his role for another three years.<\/p>\n<p>Ecclestone confirmed this to the Reuters news agency: &#8220;<em>They want me to be here for three years<\/em>&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Ecclestone, who is 85 has run Formula 1 for 40 years.<\/p>\n<p>Beginning\u00a0as a competitor in Formula 1, Ecclestone entered two\u00a0Grand Prix in 1958\u00a0however, failed to qualify for both.\u00a0He then swiftly moved to being a manager, managing the <strong>1970 Formula 1 World Champion<\/strong>,<strong> Jochen Rindt<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Ecclestone&#8217;s rise to power came following his purchase of the <strong>Brabham<\/strong> F1 team in 1972, running the team for a total of fifteen years.
