Over the past few days, tremendous speculation has travelled across social media &#8211; many of which regarding Fernando Alonso and Aston Martin. However, the Double World Champion makes clear they are untrue &#8211; and is clearly unimpressed with their content.<\/p>\n<p>A post from Albert Fabrega on social media was the first domino to fall, where he alluded to a shock &#8220;rumour&#8221; from the paddock. This triggered a tidal wave of conversation online, with numerous guesses being made about what he referred to. Many assumed he was hinting at a shock move in the driver market.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"es\">No me quiero creer el rumor que me han dicho ahora en el paddock. No.<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Albert Fabrega (@AlbertFabrega) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/AlbertFabrega\/status\/1718799198227722401?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">October 30, 2023<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>Although there was never anything to suggest surprise line-up changes for 2024, this didn&#8217;t stop the conversation online. Fabrega didn&#8217;t clarify what the rumour consisted of &#8211; or even provide a timeline for when official news could be expected. Inevitably, this left his comments to interpretation &#8211; and some of them were world.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/motorsports\/2023\/11\/02\/f1-news-aston-martin-division-revealed-ahead-of-2024\/\" target=\"_self\">In the context of Aston Martin&#8217;s decline,<\/a> talk of a shock Alonso move to Red Bull was sparked. Again, there was no validity in these claims &#8211; which generally consisted of wishful thinking from fans. In any case, this didn&#8217;t stop the conversation from spreading.<\/p>\n<p>These hypotheticals reached their peak when <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/motorsports\/2023\/10\/30\/f1-news-red-bull-send-fans-into-frenzy-with-alonso-tease\/\" target=\"_self\">the official Red Bull Spain account (likely looking for interactions) played into these rumours.<\/a> Whilst Fabrega has addressed the initial cryptic post, this only arrived after days of rampant speculation.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-17018 size-large\" src=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/motorsports\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/12\/2023\/11\/SI202307011019_hires_jpeg_24bit_rgb-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"427\" srcset=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/motorsports\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/12\/2023\/11\/SI202307011019_hires_jpeg_24bit_rgb-1024x683.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/motorsports\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/12\/2023\/11\/SI202307011019_hires_jpeg_24bit_rgb-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/motorsports\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/12\/2023\/11\/SI202307011019_hires_jpeg_24bit_rgb-768x512.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/p>\n<h3>Alonso promises &#8220;consequences&#8221;<\/h3>\n<p>Speaking at the paddock in Brazil, Fernando Alonso made his thoughts on this speculation clear:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>&#8220;Nothing to say, they&#8217;re just rumours&#8230; Normal paddock rumours,&#8221; <a href=\"https:\/\/motorsport.uol.com.br\/f1\/news\/f1-alonso-faz-ameaca-apos-rumores-de-ida-para-a-red-bull-e-despista-sobre-massa-2008\/10541628\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">he told motorsport.com.<\/a><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>&#8220;They&#8217;re just people who want to gain followers&#8230; who just want to have fun. And I don&#8217;t think it&#8217;s fun when they &#8216;play&#8217; about these things.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>&#8220;I&#8217;ll make sure there are consequences.&#8221;<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>It is unclear what these &#8220;consequences&#8221; will entail or for whom they will be directed. Regardless, the Spaniard is evidently unimpressed by recent events across social media.<\/p>\n<p>When the Brazilian GP weekend begins, the dust should settle, and conversation will shift towards the on-track action.
