{"id":16829,"date":"2023-10-31T14:39:17","date_gmt":"2023-10-31T18:39:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/motorsports\/?p=16829"},"modified":"2023-10-31T14:46:43","modified_gmt":"2023-10-31T18:46:43","slug":"f1-academy-champion-marta-garcia-to-freca-2024","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/motorsports\/2023\/10\/31\/f1-academy-champion-marta-garcia-to-freca-2024\/","title":{"rendered":"F1 Academy Champion Marta Garc\u00eda To FRECA 2024"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3>PREMA announce that F1 Academy Champion Marta Garc\u00eda will be driving for PREMA in the 2024 season.<\/h3>\n<p>Marta Garc\u00eda, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.f1academy.com\/Latest\/2SkdoVVmL6AnMbB9NIQPVg\/garcia-crowned-first-f1-academy-champion-after-holding-off-pulling-for-race\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">F1 Academy&#8217;s inaugural Champion<\/a> was crowned last weekend in Austin after an impressive season.<\/p>\n<p>Today, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.f1academy.com\/Latest\/Tag\/5l2QQOMSRbqN1OoaeWrxZA\/Guide-To\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">F1 Academy<\/a> has announced that the Spanish driver will receive a fully funded seat with PREMA Racing for the 2024 Formula Regional European Championship by Alpine (FRECA). Financial contributions will be from F1 Academy, PREMA Racing, Tatuus and Pirelli. Coming from F1 Academy, it\u2019s going to be a big step. We know we will have to work a lot with the team to succeed but I\u2019m really determined to do well. I can\u2019t thank F1 Academy enough. It is such a fantastic initiative, and it is the right way to do it, trying to take drivers with the best results to the top level. What an amazing opportunity, I\u2019m looking forward to it and to the work that we have ahead, inside and outside the track.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The Formula Regional European Championship and Formula Renault Eurocup merged to create FRECA in 2021. The series has quickly become a well-established and respected space for young drivers to develop. It has helped with the progression from the F4-level series to the FIA Formula 3 Championship. It was recently announced that PREMA will have <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/motorsports\/2023\/08\/31\/2023-f1-driver-academies-who-are-f1s-junior-drivers\/\" target=\"_self\">Mercedes junior driver Kimi Antonelli<\/a> as their F2 driver (he will skip F3), following his victory in this year&#8217;s FRECA championship.<\/p>\n<p>F1 Academy aims to help develop and prepare young female drivers to progress to higher levels of competition. These include Formula 3, <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/motorsports\/2023\/10\/18\/f2-pre-season-title-contenders-who-failed-to-live-up-to-expectations-so-far\/\" target=\"_self\">Formula 2<\/a> and Formula 1. Marta Garc\u00eda&#8217;s fully funded FRECA seat is justification that F1 Academy is living up to the expectations initially set.<\/p>\n<p>FRECA has also announced that it will also allow its top teams a season-long fourth entry if they sign a driver who finishes P1, P2 or P3 in the F1 Academy standings.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Bruno Famin, VP of Alpine Motorsports said;<\/strong><\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;We are happy to welcome the F1 Academy winners within FRECA, creating another entry point for young talent and supporting them in their journey towards the top.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<h4>2024 F1 Academy Changes<\/h4>\n<p>Drivers had to pay \u20ac150,000 to compete in the series for its inaugural season.\u00a0F1 Academy has confirmed that they have reduced the driver contribution from \u20ac150,000 to \u20ac100,000 for the 2024 season.
