{"id":1628,"date":"2017-06-28T14:35:12","date_gmt":"2017-06-28T18:35:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/motorsports\/?p=1628"},"modified":"2017-06-28T14:35:12","modified_gmt":"2017-06-28T18:35:12","slug":"1628","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/motorsports\/2017\/06\/28\/1628\/","title":{"rendered":"Alex Lynn to make Formula E debut at New York ePrix"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Former <strong>GP2<\/strong> driver <strong>Alex Lynn<\/strong> is set to make his <strong>Formula E<\/strong> debut at the <strong>New York ePrix<\/strong> next month for<strong> DS Virgin Racing<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h2>Alex Lynn to make Formula E debut at New York ePrix<\/h2>\n<p>Lynn will stand in for <strong>Jose Maria Lopez<\/strong> who will be competing in the <strong>World Endurance Championship<\/strong> at the Nurburgring on the same weekend as the double header event, explaining his absence at the second last round of the 2016-2017 Season.<\/p>\n<p>When speaking about making his Formula E debut, Lynn stated:\u00a0\u00a0&#8220;I\u2019m delighted to be racing for the DS Virgin Racing team. Formula E has always impressed me with its combination of advanced technology, iconicity-centre locations and some of the best drivers in the world.\u00a0We have a lot of testing and simulator work to do before the New York event, but I\u2019m confident I can show what I\u2019m capable of during my rookie debut in the Big Apple.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Sir Richard Branson<\/strong> has also offered to take up the role of reserve driver on the weekend of the New York ePrix with Lynn being promoted to a racing seat at the team.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I heard about the situation at the team and offered my services,&#8221; said the founder of the Virgin Group. &#8220;As you know, I\u2019ve always loved a challenge and Alex, Sam [Bird] and myself are the three plucky Brits ready to take on New York.
