Pierre Gasly made his Formula 1 debut in 2017 and has since endured a mixed time filled with several ups and downs.\u00a0<\/span><\/h3>\n

Pierre Gasly joined F1 after winning the 2016 GP2 series. In 2019, he was promoted to Red Bull<\/a> for a short while before returning to Toro Rosso later that season. Let’s take look back on the Frenchman’s journey so far.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Toro Rosso<\/span><\/h3>\n

Gasly made his Formula 1 debut with Toro Rosso at the 2017 Malaysian Grand Prix after replacing a poorly performing Daniil Kyvat. Despite scoring no points throughout the five races he participated in, Gasly made his full-time debut for the 2018 season where he partnered with Brendon Hartley.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

While Toro Rosso finished ninth in the standings, Gasly was able to maximize the car and would regularly score points, including a best finish of fourth during the Bahrain Grand Prix.<\/p>\n

Red Bull<\/h3>\n

For 2019, Gasly was promoted to Red Bull following Daniel Riccardo’s<\/a> move to Renault.\u00a0<\/span>During his short time at Red Bull Racing, he received criticism from F1 fans as well as from the team for not being on par with teammate Max Verstappen. <\/span>After only 12 races, Red Bull announced that Gasly would return to Toro Rosso for the second half of the season with Alexander Albon taking his place.<\/p>\n

Return to Toro Rosso<\/span><\/h4>\n

Gasly returned to Toro Rosso at the start of the Belgian Grand Prix and would stay with them for the remaining nine races. In his first race back with the team Gasly finished ninth at the Belgian Grand Prix. His results would further improve highlighted by the first podium of his Formula 1 career with a P2 finish at the Brazilian Grand Prix.<\/span><\/p>\n

In 2020, Toro Rosso had rebranded as Alpha Tauri where Gasly would pick up his first win at the Italian Grand Prix after a chaotic race where he held off McLaren’s Carlos Sainz.<\/p>\n
