Teamed up with championship-winning PREMA and backed by the Red Bull Junior Team, he was an early candidate for the F2 title. However, a string of mechanical failures and bad luck finds Hauger 11th in the championship, with two wins and four podiums.<\/p>\n<p>A disappointing season, finishing behind his teammate and fellow Red Bull academy driver Jehan Deruvala (who finished fifth with one win and eight podiums). Searching for better fortunes Hauger has joined MP Motorsport for the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/motorsports\/2022\/11\/02\/2023-f2-schedule-confirmed-melbourne-debut\/\" target=\"_self\">2023 season<\/a>. His teammate is yet to be confirmed.<\/p>\n<h3>2022 season<\/h3>\n<p>Hauger made his Formula 2 debut at the Bahrain Grand Prix this past March, finishing 9th in the Sprint Race. His first career point in F2, but it preceded a string of bad luck. Hauger would suffer four retirements and finish out of the top ten on nine different occasions.<\/p>\n<p>He salvaged the year by earning victories at Monaco and the Azerbaijan Grand Prix. With one round remaining Hauger sits twelve points behind Juri Vips in the standings. MP have been the revelation of this season, consistently producing a great car for every round of the season,\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Team Principal at MP Motorsport, Sander Dorsman, added:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cWe are absolutely delighted that someone of Dennis\u2019 calibre will be part of our Formula 2 programme in 2023. His 2021 Formula 3 title year is still fresh on my mind \u2013 he made no prisoners and was truly outstanding.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Hauger&#8217;s move from PREMA also leaves a seat to be filled. It is speculated that Formula 3 rookie <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/motorsports\/2022\/10\/21\/2023-f2-driver-lineup-bearman-to-prema-leclerc-to-dams\/\" target=\"_self\">Ollie Bearman<\/a> will make the step up. Or it could also be filled by Formula 2 driver Frederick Vesti, moving over from ART Grand Prix.<\/p>\n<p>Hauger will be participating in the Formula 2 post-season test which commences on November 23 -25. The two-day event will take place at the Yas Marina Circuit, the same location as the season finale. The lineup for F2 testing has not been announced yet.<\/p>\n<h3>2023 Formula 2 Driver Lineup<\/h3>\n<p>With one round of the 2022 Formula 2 Championship remaining, teams and drivers are keeping hush about their plans for 2023.
