UFC Freedom 250 delivered on its blockbuster billing, producing a finish in all seven bouts on the card. However, the thrilling night of action came at a heavy physical cost, with several fighters leaving the event carrying significant injuries. No one suffered more damage than former champion Ilia Topuria, who endured a brutal beating at the hands of Justin Gaethje in the main event.<\/span><\/p>\n

After absorbing relentless punishment over four rounds, Topuria was unable to answer the bell for the fifth and was <\/span>forced to retire on his stool<\/span><\/a>, handing Gaethje one of the biggest victories of his career. The severity of the contest became immediately apparent afterward, as Topuria was transported to a local hospital for further evaluation.<\/span><\/p>\n

UFC CEO Dana White confirmed the hospitalization during the post-fight press conference, while Spanish outlet Marca later reported that Topuria had suffered non-displaced fractures to both orbital bones. The report added that the damage around his right eye was more severe than his left, although surgery is not expected to be necessary. As a result, no official timetable has been established <\/span>for his return to competition<\/span><\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n

The extent of the punishment Topuria absorbed was also reflected in the post-event medical suspensions. California State Athletic Commission Executive Director Andy Foster released the official suspensions from the historic UFC White House card after serving as one of the event\u2019s regulators on behalf of the Association of Boxing Commissions and Combative Sports.<\/span><\/p>\n

As expected, Topuria received a 180-day medical suspension, though it can be shortened if he receives clearance from an oral and maxillofacial surgeon. In addition, he was issued a mandatory 60-day suspension that cannot be waived under any circumstances. Despite those concerns, fans have now gotten their first glimpse of Topuria since his June 14 showdown with Gaethje.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Just 16 days after the fight, Georgian reporter Giorgi Kokiashvili shared a photograph of the former champion posing with a young fan while out in public. Musician Omar Montes also posted an image on his Instagram story showing Topuria seated with friends around a table at Burger King.<\/span><\/p>\n
