Jason Benetti<\/strong> can best be described as a renaissance man. While he\u2019s the relatively new breed of sports broadcasters including Joe Davis, Adam Amin and a few others, he not only understands history, he embraces it. Case in point in part one of this absolutely wildly entertaining episode, Benetti draws on part of his personality to his upbringing.<\/p>\n

\u201cI was a good student in grammar school, probably too polite at times. There was really no edge except I would go home and my parents and I would watch Robin Williams<\/strong> and George Carlin and Dennis Miller and Dennis Leary. I always appreciated really good comedians.\u201d<\/em>
\n\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Now you understand why Benetti\u2019s broadcasts are more than just tinged with humor and good one-liners.<\/p>\n

Benetti also has a law degree but didn\u2019t use that as a back up in case his broadcasting career didn\u2019t blossom.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf you\u2019re going to do this ( referring to law school) it can\u2019t be an excuse. I hit law school as hard as I did broadcasting,\u201d tells us on the show.<\/p>\n

Benetti credits his career to the wonderful radio department and Homewood Flossmoor High School<\/strong> in suburban Chicago and Syracuse University which had a great media school.<\/p>\n

While afflicted with Cerebral Palsy, something he discusses at great length in part two of this podcast, Benetti loves what he\u2019s doing. His dream while growing up was to be the voice of the Chicago White Sox.<\/strong> He\u2019s about to start his 8th season with them.<\/p>\n

Benetti is also a prime voice at Fox Sports where he\u2019ll call the game of the week while also doing college basketball. When I mentioned he has a full plate Benetti replied, \u201cYea, I do need a vacation!\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

In this thoroughly entertaining part one of the \u201cTell me a story I don\u2019t know\u201d podcast, Benetti also discusses MLB\u2019s recent rule changes including the pitch clock, something he and fellow broadcasters will have to adjust to starting now.
