{"id":2038,"date":"2026-01-05T18:41:31","date_gmt":"2026-01-05T18:41:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/media\/?p=2038"},"modified":"2026-01-05T19:14:18","modified_gmt":"2026-01-05T19:14:18","slug":"nfl-broadcaster-learns-ai-doesnt-always-know","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/media\/sports-media\/nfl-broadcaster-learns-ai-doesnt-always-know\/","title":{"rendered":"NFL Broadcaster Learns AI Doesn&#8217;t Always Know"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A former player turned NFL broadcaster has learned the first rule of journalism when it comes to obtaining facts from certain sources: &#8220;trust, but verify.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Former Oakland Raider and Green Bay Packers Hall of Fame defensive back Charles Woodson found that out the hard way, especially when it comes to using AI for fact-checking.\u00a0 He admitted this weekend that early in the season, he used ChatGPT to try and find out a fact that he could have found with one or two additional clicks, and that the AI bot got it wrong.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">\ud83d\ude02 <a  href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/CharlesWoodson?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">@CharlesWoodson<\/a> learned a valuable lesson to double check ChatGPT <a  href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/DgHT2nEzLl\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">pic.twitter.com\/DgHT2nEzLl<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 FOX Sports: NFL (@NFLonFOX) <a  href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/NFLonFOX\/status\/2007860953761878194?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">January 4, 2026<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is the age of AI, and we use it for everything,\u201d Woodson said on <em>Fox NFL Kickoff<\/em>. \u201cWhat I learned this year is that the first week of the season, I went on ChatGPT and I just asked a question. I said \u2018How many games in the division did the Packers win last year?\u2019 And ChatGPT said they were 0-6 in the division. So, I thought it was an easy enough question. I come up here, I said it with my chest, I\u2019m talking about the Packers. I\u2019m like, \u2018Man, they didn\u2019t win a game in the division last year.\u2019 As soon as I got on [X], somebody quickly corrected me. They said, \u2018Hey man, you know the Packers won one division game last year. They beat Chicago.\u2019 I said, \u2018Ahhhh, man.\u2019 So, make sure, man, if you\u2019re using AI, that you fact-check.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;You can&#8217;t trust AI,&#8221; Woodson&#8217;s colleage Charissa Thompson reiterated.<\/p>\n<p>ChatGPT has a disclaimer on its website: &#8220;ChatGPT can make mistakes.
