Will Underwood leave Michigan?<\/h2>\n

However, Portnoy is not looking to do whatever it takes to the former 5-star No. 1 overall recruit in Ann Arbor.<\/span><\/p>\n

Fresh off Michigan\u2019s National Championship, the outspoken Wolverines alum watched in horror as the team stumbled to a 5-4 Big Ten record with Davis Warren at quarterback.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

During an epic rant on a Barstool podcast, Portnoy delivered what might go down as an all-time legendary quote in Ann Arbor: he vowed to personally spend whatever it takes to get a real quarterback on campus.\u00a0<\/span>But now, after Michigan got embarrassed at home in The Game with starter Bryce Underwood<\/a> barely able to move the chains, Portnoy is pumping the brakes.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

On The Triple Option podcast with his FOX Sports<\/a> Big Noon Kickoff<\/em> crew, Portnoy declared he\u2019s officially \u201cout\u201d on dumping any more of his own money into the Wolverines\u2019 NIL if Underwood even thinks about hitting the portal.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m out of it. He\u2019d have to have some big balls to say he wants to renegotiate now,\u201d Portnoy said. \u201cI don\u2019t think that\u2019s coming down the \u2018pike. That would be surreal. I\u2019m out of it.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Underwood had his share of struggles in his first season as Michigan\u2019s starting quarterback. He completed just 61.1% of his pass attempts, for 2,229 yards, with nine touchdowns and six interceptions.<\/span><\/p>\n

Portnoy sounds off<\/h3>\n

In the interview with FOX Sports<\/a>, Portnoy suggested that Underwood very well might have played his last down at Michigan already.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cIt really seems like if somebody came along and said, \u2018Hey Bryce, here\u2019s $20 mill,’\u201d Portnoy said. \u201cI think he could bounce if he wanted to. I don\u2019t think there\u2019s any rules going on with that, as far as I could tell.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Though Underwood, a true freshman, hasn\u2019t given the slightest hint he\u2019s unhappy in Ann Arbor, the transfer portal moves fast and feelings change faster.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Just look at last year\u2019s Nico Iamaleava circus: the former five-star ditched Tennessee for UCLA over a silly NIL dispute, only to watch the Bruins flop while the Vols stayed in the playoff hunt without him, while also taking significantly less money.<\/span><\/p>\n

Don’t expect help from Portnoy<\/h3>\n

Portnoy says his wallet officially closed months ago, right after he sat down with Underwood\u2019s family and Oracle billionaire Larry Ellison (whose wife bleeds maize and blue).\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

While Underwood was still weighing his flip to Michigan, Portnoy promised to toss in some cash, shook hands, and walked away.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
