{"id":1536,"date":"2025-10-20T03:08:06","date_gmt":"2025-10-20T03:08:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/media\/?p=1536"},"modified":"2025-10-20T03:08:06","modified_gmt":"2025-10-20T03:08:06","slug":"colin-cowherd-has-solution-for-wake-up-barstools-bad-ratings-on-fs1","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/media\/podcasts\/colin-cowherd-has-solution-for-wake-up-barstools-bad-ratings-on-fs1\/","title":{"rendered":"Colin Cowherd Has Solution For Wake Up Barstool\u2019s Bad Ratings On FS1"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">FOX Sports\u2019 Colin Cowherd has been a staple of FS1\u2019s programming for a decade, but he has seen plenty of other programs come and go around his show in that stretch.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The show with the most recent struggles on FS1 is <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Wake Up Barstool<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, produced in Chicago by <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/media\/podcasts\/ryen-russillo-moves-podcast-to-barstool-sports\/\" target=\"_self\">Barstool Sports<\/a>. <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Wake Up Barstool<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> airs every weekday from 8-10am ET, while re-airing from 10am-Noon ET on the network.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><strong>No one is waking up for Barstool<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It has been several weeks since <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Wake Up Barstool<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> hit the air, and the results have been pretty lackluster to say the least. FS1\u2019s newest morning show has struggled to attract more than 10,000 viewers per show. By comparison, Cowherd\u2019s show <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Herd<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, along with <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">First Things First<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> regularly attract 100,000 views per episode.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Since <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Herd with Colin Cowherd<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> airs from Noon-3pm ET, his show is directly affected by inheriting a poor lead-in audience from Wake Up Barstool. However, Cowherd doesn\u2019t seem too concerned about Wake Up Barstool\u2019s slow start.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><strong>Cowherd sounds off<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Cowherd told <a  href=\"https:\/\/www.sportsmediawatch.com\/2025\/10\/colin-cowherd-radio-affiliates-fs1-the-volume\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Sports Media Watch<\/a> that the Barstool crew is still learning TV, and finding their footing. \u201cBarstool just started out, and I\u2019m prepping when they\u2019re on the air. I see what they look like, but Barstool\u2019s made their bones on digital and podcasting, so now they\u2019re transitioning to TV, and TV\u2019s hard,\u201d Cowherd said.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">He added, \u201cAnd also on television, it\u2019s got to look the part, so TV, there\u2019s a lot of elements to it. It\u2019s, \u2018Does it look big?\u2019 For instance, [ESPN\u2019s] <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Get Up<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> looks big. I could turn the sound down on Get Up and the production quality, it looks big, so it takes a while to tweak all these shows. My look has been refined through the years, same with <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">First Things First<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">One of the biggest issues facing <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Wake Up Barstool<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> has been the show\u2019s lack of a consistent cast. Although you will see in a typical week some of the network\u2019s biggest names like Dave Portnoy, Big Cat, PFT Commenter, Brandon Walker and T-Bob Hrbert, you won\u2019t see any of them every single day like you would on an average weekday TV show.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><strong>More Big Cat?<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Cowherd has a solution for Barstool\u2019s TV ratings struggles, and lack of a constant cast. The longtime FS1 host is suggesting that Big Cat should be more involved, \u201cSo Barstool is brand new, and they\u2019ve already made some tweaks to it, and I think it\u2019ll be fine. The more Big Cat\u2019s on it, the better.
