The <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/podcasts\/finebaum-returns-to-espn-after-absence-amid-senate-run-speculation\/\" target=\"_self\">ESPN<\/a><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> <i>First Take <\/i>host has had a busy week over the last few days.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For the first time ever on Friday, Smith will co-host <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Good Morning America<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> on ABC. It goes along with a recent trend of sports media personalities getting their shot at network morning television.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><strong>From sports to news<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Smith\u2019s ESPN colleagues Joe Buck, Laura Rutledge and Malika Andrews have all guest-hosted <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Good Morning America<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> throughout the year. The show already features former <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">SportsCenter<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> anchor Robin Roberts, along with FOX NFL analyst Michael Strahan.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Similarly, CBS NFL analyst Nate Burleson is one of the featured hosts on <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">CBS Mornings<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. Meanwhile, NBC has deployed NBC Sports broadcaster Mike Tirico, 13-time NBA All-Star Dwyane Wade and FOX NFL sideline reporter Erin Andrews on the <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">TODAY Show <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">as of late.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Hosting <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Good Morning America<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is the latest chapter in Smith\u2019s ever-evolving role in the media landscape. Earlier this year, Smith signed a new deal with ESPN which allows him to do a variety of work outside of ESPN.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><strong>Will Stephen A. stay at ESPN?<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Although Smith has teased a potential presidential campaign, he recently expressed his commitment to the Walt Disney corporation saying, \u201cI\u2019m happy and honored to remain a member of the Disney\/ESPN family for, at least, the next five years. There\u2019s only bigger and bigger things ahead. It starts with continuing to put in that work.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Outside of the Disney doors, Smith is a regular political commentator on FOX News and NewsNation. On Wednesday, Smith walked off the set of <a  href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/homenews\/media\/5559184-stephen-a-smith-newsnation-town-hall-shutdown-frustration\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">NewsNation\u2019s town hall<\/a> expressing frustration and sympathy for a voter who told panelists during the event he was working two jobs during the government shutdown.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">He recently joined SiriusXM to host a daily sports talk radio show, along with a weekly political program. His podcast remains one of the most popular sports\/political crossover shows on YouTube.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Although Smith\u2019s work outside of the mothership is being stretched thin, he is still staying very active within the worldwide leader. Smith made his <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Monday Night Countdown<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> debut on September 22, and is scheduled to make at least two more appearances on the pregame show this season.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3>Molly Qerim&#8217;s replacement revealed<\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In addition to his hosting duties on ESPN\u2019s <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">First Take<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, he serves as the show\u2019s executive producer. With the recent departure of Molly Qerim as the show\u2019s moderator, Smith helped pick her recently-named replacement in Shae Cornette.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Smith stated on the addition of Cornett to the show, \u201cHosting <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">First Take<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is no easy assignment. It requires confidence, toughness, and real sports insight \u2014 and Shae brings all of that and more. I\u2019ve seen her command the desk with poise and passion every time she\u2019s hosted.
