Los Angeles Kings Ink Jacob Ingham
Ingham spent the past season playing with the Kitchener Rangers of the Ontario Hockey League. In 46 games played, he posted a record of 33-8-4 to go along with a goals-against-average of 2.96 and a save percentage of .917. in 177 total games played throughout his four-year junior career, Ingham has posted a record of 93-61-9 to go along with a 3.23 goals-against average and a save percentage of .899.
A sixth-round pick in the 2018 NHL draft, Ingham has all the makings of a solid NHL goaltender. Standing at 6’4″, he has great size and he uses his size to his advantage. He plays his angles well and does not get caught out of position too often. He has good rebound control and can make a highlight reel save when his teammates need a spark.
Ingham also has great confidence in his handling of the puck. He is not afraid to handle the puck under pressure and can make a play under duress. He does not get rattled easily and is able to bounce back if he lets in an ugly goal.
What This Means for the Future
Before the NHL announced that the season was postponed, the Kings were not doing so well. Near the bottom of the standing, the players and the fans know that the team is going through the midst of a rebuild. With a great prospect pool and solid veteran players till in the lineup, the Kings will be a scary bunch, a few years down the road.
Signing Ingham is a solid move for the Kings organization. Although they have one of the best prospect pools in the NHL, their goaltending pipeline is a little dried up. Signing Ingham makes the pipeline a little more sturdy and they now have a solid goaltending prospect in their system.
