This means that both players are likely to miss the beginning of the 2020-21 NHL regular season.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2>Buffalo Sabres Injuries: Kyle Okposo and Curtis Lazar<\/h2>\n<p>https:\/\/twitter.com\/BJWilsonWGR\/status\/1349060211118657541<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Brayton J. Wilson, a member of the Buffalo sports media reported that Curtis Lazar missed today\u2019s practice entirely, whereas Kyle Okposo left after participating on the third line at the start of the morning. During the media availability interviews, Coach Ralph Krueger confirmed the respective injuries. These present as yet another depth-forward setback for the Buffalo Sabres during their preseason training camp. Last week, winger <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/g\/girgeze01.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Zemgus Girgensons<\/a> suffered a season-ending hamstring injury during a team scrimmage.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Kyle Okposo is entering his fifth season as a Buffalo Sabre. He is a bottom-six forward who can be relied upon for double-figure goal production, Okposo has tallied 57 goals and 137 points during his time in upstate New York. He has three years left of his $42 million dollar deal, which he signed in 2016. ($6 million AAV)<\/p>\n<h3>What This Means Going Forward<\/h3>\n<p>After Okposo left the ice today, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/m\/mitteca01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Casey Mittelstadt<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/a\/asplura01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Rasmus Asplund<\/a> and Jack Quinn spent time filling the void on the third line&#8217;s right wing. This line was centred by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/e\/eakinco01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Cody Eakin<\/a> and had <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/r\/riedeto01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Tobias Rieder<\/a> on the left wing.<\/p>\n<p>Curtis Lazar signed a two-year <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/hockey\/2020\/09\/24\/buffalo-sabres-re-sign-forward-curtis-lazar\/\" target=\"_self\">extension<\/a> with the Buffalo Sabres last September worth $1.6 million. This will be his second season in Buffalo. During the 2019-20 season, Lazar played 38 games for Buffalo. He scored five goals and recorded 10 points during that span. Lazar also spent time down in the AHL with the Rochester Americans, the Sabres&#8217; affiliate.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The injuries come at an unfortunate time with less than three days before the Sabres\u2019 season opener.
