Giroux has seemed to quiet those doubts as he has been thriving for Canada. He&#8217;s a part of a team that has yet to lose in the tournament.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Claude Giroux Thriving At Worlds<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Giroux spent most of the regular season recovering from a hip and abdominal surgery that took place last summer. He mentioned\u00a0it was the most difficult recovery he has dealt with. This included the surgery on both of his wrists back in 2012.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I don&#8217;t think I&#8217;ve ever had trouble with my wrist after surgeries,&#8221; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nhl.com\/news\/flyers-giroux-adjusting-to-hip\/c-287872280\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">he said<\/a>. &#8220;[Hip surgery] definitely was different. Wasn&#8217;t the mental game like it is right now.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/2017\/03\/22\/claude-giroux-traded\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">After admitting<\/a> it took him long to recover, Giroux would finish with seven goals and seven assists in the team&#8217;s last 11 games. He has continued with a strong start for Canada. In four games so far, Giroux has seven points in the form of two goals and 5 assists.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>A Familiar Face, A Strange Foe<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>While picking up two assists in the opening game against the Czech Republic, Giroux took a hit from a familiar face. Flyers&#8217; teammate <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/g\/gudasra01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Radko Gudas<\/a><\/strong> caught Giroux up high with a punch to the chin.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Radko Gudas just punched his <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/Flyers?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">#Flyers<\/a> teammate Claude Giroux. During a postgame interview, Giroux walked past Gudas and gave him a shove in the back in return.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;That&#8217;s expected; that&#8217;s the way he plays,&#8221; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.philly.com\/philly\/sports\/flyers\/World-Hockey-Championship-Flyers-Claude-Giroux--captain-Radko-Gudas-punch.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">a smiling Giroux told reporters<\/a> after the game. &#8220;During the season, I&#8217;m glad he&#8217;s on my team.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat\u2019s Radko, that\u2019s what you love about him,\u2019\u2019 <a href=\"http:\/\/www.burlingtoncountytimes.com\/sports\/flyers\/flyers-have-no-problem-with-radko-gudas-swing-at-claude\/article_90780f48-342d-11e7-b1c9-b7cebde8392a.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Flyers and Canada\u00a0GM <strong>Ron Hextall<\/strong> said<\/a>. \u201cSo you can\u2019t pick and choose. We love Radko because that\u2019s the way he plays. He plays that way all the time no matter who. &#8221;<\/p>\n<h3><strong>International Experience<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Claude Giroux came into this tournament with plenty of experience playing for his country. He was a part of the gold medal winning team at the 2015 IIHF World Championship. In 10 games, he had three goals and seven assists. He also won a gold medal with Canada at the 2008 IIHF World Junior Championship. He recorded two goals and four assists in seven games.<\/p>\n<p>Giroux\u00a0was a part of the 2016 World Cup of Hockey, 2013 IIHF World Championship and Canada\/Russia Super Series in 2007 as well. He\u00a0was also selected to the National Team camp in September of 2013, but did not attend due to injury.<\/p>\n<p>If there was any concern that Claude Giroux was still playing through any type of injury,\u00a0he has erased them.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Ten Flyers Selected To Play At Worlds<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>There is plenty of Flyer power when looking at each country. Including Giroux, there are five Flyers on Canada&#8217;s roster. <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/s\/simmowa01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Wayne Simmonds<\/a><\/strong>, <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/k\/konectr01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Travis Konecny<\/a><\/strong>, <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/c\/coutuse01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Sean Couturier<\/a><\/strong> and <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/s\/schenbr01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Brayden Schenn<\/a><\/strong> are also on the roster for Canada.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/v\/voracja01.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Jake Voracek<\/strong><\/a> and Gudas are playing for the\u00a0Czech Republic while <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/p\/provoiv01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Ivan Provorov<\/a><\/strong> is a part of the\u00a0Russian team. <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/f\/filppva01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Valtteri Filppula<\/a><\/strong>, Finland, and <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/b\/bellepi01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Pierre-Edouard Bellemare<\/a><\/strong>, France, round out the Flyers selected to play for their countries.<\/p>\n<p>Bellemare\u00a0was named player of the game in France&#8217;s 5-1 upset win over Finland on Sunday. The forward would finish\u00a0with a goal and assist in the game.<\/p>\n<p>Despite the honor and a free watch, he rejected the honor and instead gave it to goaltender Florian Hardy. Hardy would make 42 saves in the win.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I didn&#8217;t actually hear my name,&#8221;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nhl.com\/news\/pierre-edouard-bellemare-hands-off-award-to-france-goalie\/c-289320906?tid=281396148\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"> Bellemare said of being announced<\/a> as the player of the game. &#8220;I was clapping for [Hardy], looking at him, then he heard my name. The international stage hasn&#8217;t phased the two rookies a bit, however.<\/p>\n<p>As a part of the &#8220;The Kid Line&#8221; Konecny has risen to the occasion along side <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/p\/pointbr01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Brayden Point<\/a><\/strong> and <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/m\/marnemi01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Mitch Marner<\/a><\/strong>. In six games Konecny has collected six points, all assists.<\/p>\n<p>In Provorov&#8217;s first appearance with the senior national team, he continued the workhouse mentality that he had with the Flyers. He has been averaging a little over 18 minutes, which ranks him third on the team as a 20-year-old.
