Here\u2019s our look at this date in hockey history for November 18th, featuring <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/r\/recchma01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Mark Recchi<\/a>.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Also Read: <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/hockey\/2020\/11\/17\/today-in-hockey-history-bruins-bobby-orr-sets-assist-record\/\" target=\"_self\">November 17<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/hockey\/2020\/11\/19\/today-in-hockey-history-new-york-rangers-jaromir-jagr-gets-goal-600\/\" target=\"_self\">November 19<\/a><\/p>\n<h2>Today in Hockey History: November 18th<\/h2>\n<h3>Mark Recchi Has Six-Point Night<\/h3>\n<p><strong>1991:<\/strong> The <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/hockey\/category\/penguins\/\" target=\"_self\">Pittsburgh Penguins<\/a> forward gets three goals and three assists in a 7-3 victory over the host <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/hockey\/category\/avalanche\/\" target=\"_self\">Quebec Nordiques<\/a>. It&#8217;s the first hat trick of Recchi&#8217;s career, who had seven for his 22-year tenure. Recchi would enter the Hockey Hall of Fame 2017 after scoring 577 career goals.<\/p>\n<p>Kevin Stevens also scored three goals for Pittsburgh in the rout of Quebec. The Penguins finish the 1991-92 with the Stanley Cup after beating the Minnesota North Stars.<\/p>\n<h3>Other Notable Events<\/h3>\n<p><strong>1926:<\/strong> The Detroit Cougars (later the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/hockey\/category\/redwings\/\" target=\"_self\">Detroit Red Wings<\/a>) would play their first game in franchise history. Detroit falls 2-0 to the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/hockey\/category\/bruins\/\" target=\"_self\">Boston Bruins<\/a> thanks to goals by Duke Keats and Archie Briden. The Cougars play their first season in Windsor, Ontario before playing at the Olympia.<\/p>\n<p><strong>1930:<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/hockey\/category\/leafs\/\" target=\"_self\">Toronto Maple Leafs<\/a> goalie <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/c\/chabolo01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Lorne Chabot<\/a> is the first goalie to start a season with three straight shutouts. Chabot helps the Leafs blank the Montreal Maroons, 3-0.<\/p>\n<p><strong>1967:<\/strong> Leafs defenceman Tim Horton is the first <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/hockey\/2020\/08\/25\/today-in-hockey-history-toronto-maple-leafs-tim-horton-inducted-to-hof\/\" target=\"_self\">Toronto player play 1,000 games<\/a> for the team. Rookie <span id=\"token-B27A6FFA3612EE1B0DAA8\" class=\"token token-hyperLink\">Garry Unger scores the first of his 413 career goals in a 2-2 tie with the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/hockey\/category\/blackhawks\/\" target=\"_self\">Chicago Black Hawks<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>1977:<\/strong> <span id=\"token-5AFF2721721FE3603BCA0\" class=\"token token-hyperLink\">Vaclav Nedomansky gets three assists just hours after signing with the Red Wings. The native of Czechoslovakia is the first Eastern European to defect in 1974. He played for the Toronto Toros and Birmingham Bulls of the WHA before joining Detroit.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>1979:<\/strong> The <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/hockey\/category\/canucks\/\" target=\"_self\">Vancouver Canucks<\/a> get an elusive home win over the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/hockey\/category\/canadiens\/\" target=\"_self\">Montreal Canadiens<\/a>, 5-2. It&#8217;s the first win over the Habs since the Canucks enter the league in 1970. Glen Hanlon makes 34 saves to end an 0-15-6 drought.<\/p>\n<p><b>2001: <\/b><a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/hockey\/category\/avalanche\/\" target=\"_self\">Colorado Avalanche<\/a> goalie <span id=\"token-AE0D0D2BD148386F87A87\" class=\"token token-hyperLink\">Patrick Roy<\/span> makes 33 saves for his third consecutive shutout in the Avs&#8217; 2-0 win over the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/hockey\/category\/devils\/\" target=\"_self\">New Jersey Devils<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><b>2010: <\/b>Steven Stamkos scores three goals as the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/hockey\/category\/lightning\/\" target=\"_self\">Tampa Bay Lightning<\/a> beat the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/hockey\/category\/flyers\/\" target=\"_self\">Philadelphia Flyers<\/a>, 8-7. The teams combine for nine goals in the first period and another five in the second before Nate Thompson nets the game-winner 5:19 into the third.<\/p>\n<p><strong>2014:<\/strong> The <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/hockey\/category\/predators\/\" target=\"_self\">Nashville Predators<\/a> score the most goals in a game in franchise history.
