He set a new career-high in scoring with 28 points in 67 games. That figured included eight goals. He also saw increased usage at both even-strength and short-handed situations. His total ice time jumped from 13:38 to 14:10 and shorthanded ice time went from 0:01 to 0:52. Some of that was from personnel changes but Greenway just plain earned more time in most situations.

The Wild originally selected Greenway in the second round of the 2015 Draft. He played for a couple of seasons with Boston University before making a six-game debut in the 2017-18 season. 2018-19 was his first real action with 12 goals, 24 points, 57 hits and 40 blocks in 81 contests. Greenway doesn’t look like a prototypical scorer with a 6’6″, 227-pound frame but he skates well and uses his body effectively. His two-way style fits Minnesota perfectly.

What This Means for the Future

Greenway is an obvious fit on the team’s middle-six going into the next season. The team is very deep on its wings but the big skater should be a regular moving forward. There is at least no obvious reason why he should be a larger part of the offence in 2020-21

Minnesota has been very active so far since the season ended. They began by acquiring Nick Bjugstad from the Pittsburgh Penguins but have been aggressive after that initial move. The Wild have sent Eric Staal, Ryan Donato, Luke Kunin and Devan Dubnyk away in various trades. In return, the team has brought in Marcus Johansson and Nick Bonino. Finally, they signed Cam Talbot for three seasons.
