The Avs finished the season with 48 points, marking the <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/JeffVeillette\/status\/808134589793370112?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw&amp;ref_url=http%3A%2F%2Flastwordonhockey.com%2Fwp-admin%2Fpost.php%3Fpost%3D8746%26action%3Dedit%26revision%3D8748\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">worst full-season record<\/a> of any team since the expansion Atlanta Thrashers finished with 39 points in 1999-2000. Although the Colorado Avalanche and their fans would like to forget about this season, there were some shining moments, and the Avs had some memorable plays. Let&#8217;s take a look at the top five plays of the 2016-2017 season for the Colorado Avalanche.<\/p>\n<h2>Top Five Plays of\u00a0Colorado Avalanche Season<\/h2>\n<p><strong>5.<\/strong> <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/p\/pickaca01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Calvin Pickard<\/a> save vs Ottawa (March 11th, 2017)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>With ten and a half minutes left in the second period, and with the Avalanche leading 1-0, <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/w\/widemch01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Chris Wideman<\/a><\/strong> of the Ottawa Senators took a pass from <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/b\/brassde01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Derick Brassard<\/a><\/strong> and flew down the wing. Wideman tossed the puck on net and it ended up landing right on the stick of <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/s\/smithza01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Zack Smith<\/a><\/strong>, but Smith was denied by Pickard&#8217;s right pad, which gave <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/c\/comeabl01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Blake Comeau<\/a><\/strong> and the Avs an amazing chance going the other way.<\/p>\n<p>https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/BRjVlqcjdO9\/?tagged=pickard<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>4.<\/strong> <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/j\/johnser01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Erik Johnson<\/a> Overtime goal vs Chicago (April 4th, 2017)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In another action-packed game at the Pepsi Center, the Avs came back from a 3-0 deficit to the Chicago Blackhawks and scored <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=DgYqpXrzbMY&amp;ab_channel=NHL\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">three gorgeous goals<\/a> from <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/d\/duchema01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Matt Duchene<\/a><\/strong>, <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/l\/landega01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Gabriel Landeskog<\/a><\/strong> and <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/g\/grigomi01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Mikhail Grigorenko<\/a><\/strong>, some of which almost made it on this list. With the game tied at one, the two teams went into overtime, and Calvin Pickard stood on his head in the dying seconds, robbing <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/s\/schwaja01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Jaden Schwartz<\/a> point blank. On December 11th, the Avs headed to the Air Canada Centre in Toronto to play the Maple Leafs after losing 10-1 to the Montreal Canadiens the night before. With the Avs leading 1-0 halfway through the third period, MacKinnon was high-sticked by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/k\/komarle01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Leo Komarov<\/a> going through the neutral zone on a power play, but he didn&#8217;t let that stop him. He maintained possession of the puck, undressed <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/b\/brownco02.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Connor Brown<\/a>, dangled <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/r\/riellmo01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Morgan Rielly<\/a> immediately afterwards, and then split Rielly and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/z\/zaitsni01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Nikita Zaitsev<\/a> before firing a shot low to the stick-side on <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/b\/bibeaan01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Antoine Bibeau<\/a>.
