After spending the next two seasons after his draft year in his native Russia, Dadonov made the jump to North America for the 2009-10 season. Dadonov spent the next three seasons going back and forth between the NHL and AHL. In 55 NHL games over the span of three seasons, Dadonov scored 10 goals and 10 assists for 20 points. After not finding much success in either league, Dadonov made the return to Russia to play in the KHL for the next five seasons.

Dadonov decided to make his return to the NHL signing with the Panthers in 2017. He returned a totally different player and has been lights out since his return. Since returning for the 2017-18 season, Dadonov has scored 81 goals and added 101 assists for 182 points in 225 games.

This past season, Dadonov scored 25 goals and 22 assists for 47 points in 69 games. He also recorded one assist in four postseason games.

What This Means for the Future

In Dadonov, the Senators get a proven 20 goal scorer as he has surpassed the 20 goal mark each year since his return to the NHL. He will be a welcome addition to Ottawa’s powerplay as he was able to score 11 of his 25 goals with the man advantage last season, tying him for 11th in the entire NHL in powerplay goals. Dadonov is capable of playing either side on the wing, however, prefers the right side despite being a left shot. This works out well for him especially on the power play as Dadonov likes to set up on the right circle for one-timers. Dadonov will be a welcome addition to the Ottawa’s top six and should be a consistent 20-goal and 50-point scorer for the club.

Main Photo:

Embed from Getty Images

The Ottawa Senators have announced they have come to terms with forward Evgenii Dadonov on a three-year $15 million contract.
