He was originally drafted in the 6th round, 161st overall of the 2007 NHL Draft by the Philadelphia Flyers.

Last season he scored nine goals and added 14 assists for 23 points in 64 games. He added 71 minutes in penalties. His possession numbers were 50.6 percent Corsi and a relative Corsi of -1.5. He was a part of the Lightning team that made it to the Stanley Cup Final.

Maroon also helped lead the Blues to win the Stanley Cup in 2020. He was a huge part of the Cup run. Maroon had three goals and four assists for seven points in 26 games as a fourth-liner. He scored the 2OT game-winning goal against the Dallas Stars to get the Blues to the Western Conference Finals. He also made a big impact with his physicality. Maroon is a physical force on the ice. He has the ability to wear down other teams. That was a big part of the reason why the Blues won the Cup.

What This Means for the Future

In Pat Maroon, the Lightning are getting a physical fourth-line forward that is worthy of the nickname “Big Rig.” While Maroon is probably nearing the end of his career, his performance last season shows that he is still more than capable of bringing the physical side of the game. The experience he brings to the table, especially in the last two seasons, is sure to help in the locker room as well.

Main Photo:
Embed from Getty Imageswindow.gie=window.gie||function(c){(gie.q=gie.q||[]).push(c)};gie(function(){gie.widgets.load({id:’aObsZRl6S2RhMcg3P3qlqg’,sig:’FoVUk-d2ERC5kyK5rqR-6MTXkxDUBDwm9YSlXGnicj4=’,w:’594px’,h:’396px’,items:’1206487136′,caption: true ,tld:’ca’,is360: false })});

The Tampa Bay Lightning re-signed unrestricted free agent forward Pat Maroon to a two-year contract worth $1.8 million, which carries an AAV of $900,000 per season.
