We\u2019ll remember the moments that shaped the sport of hockey that happened on this day. Here\u2019s our look at this date in hockey history for September 19, featuring Eric Lindros<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Today in Hockey History<\/h2>\n

Eric Lindros Makes Pre-Season Debut<\/h3>\n

1992:<\/strong> The Philadelphia Flyers<\/a> centre makes his pre-season debut against the Quebec Nordiques.<\/a> Lindros sat out the 1991-92 after Quebec took his first in the 1991 NHL Draft. Philadelphia acquired him in a blockbuster trade, but only after an arbitrator decided. The New York Rangers<\/a> also thought they got Lindros via trade.<\/p>\n

Lindros gets a goal and an assist against the Nordiques in front of the home crowd at the Spectrum. He finishes his rookie season with 75 points (41 goals, 34 assists) and 147 penalty minutes in 61 games.<\/p>\n

Other Notable Events<\/h3>\n

1985:<\/strong> The St. Louis Blues<\/a> trade Mark Johnson<\/a><\/strong> to the New Jersey Devils<\/a> for Shawn Evans<\/a><\/strong> and a fifth-round pick. Johnson scores 89 goals and 29 points in his tenure with the Devils.<\/p>\n

1990:<\/strong> The Pittsburgh Penguins<\/a> beat the Los Angeles Kings<\/a>, 5-3, in a pre-season game at the Suncoast Dome at at St. Petersburg, Fla. A crowd of 25,581 fans attends the game at the now Tropicana Field for the largest NHL crowd ever at the time.<\/p>\n

1991:<\/strong> Toronto Maple Leafs<\/a> general manager Cliff Fletcher<\/strong> makes a splash in a big trade with the Edmonton Oilers.<\/a> The Leafs gets Grant Fuhr<\/a>, Glenn Anderson<\/a><\/strong> and Craig Berube<\/a><\/strong> in the deal. Edmonton obtains Vincent Damphousse<\/a>, <\/span>Scott Thornton<\/a><\/span>, Luke Richardson<\/a><\/span> <\/strong>and Peter Ing<\/a><\/span> <\/strong>from Toronto.<\/span><\/p>\n

1998:<\/strong> The Nashville Predators<\/a> get a 4-2 win over the Florida Panthers<\/a> in their first pre-season game in team history. Marian Cisar<\/a><\/strong> scores the team’s first goal in the game played at Huntsville, Ala.<\/p>\n

2013:<\/strong> The Dallas Stars name Jamie Benn<\/a><\/strong> as their new team captain. He replaces Brendan Morrow<\/strong> in the role and currently wears the “C” as of now.<\/p>\n

2017:<\/strong> Nashville names Roman Josi<\/a><\/strong> as the team’s seventh captain in team history. He becomes the second European-based captain and first since Kimmo Timonen<\/a><\/strong>. Josi replaces the recently-retired Mike Fisher<\/a><\/strong> as the new captain.<\/p>\n

2018: Jake DeBrusk<\/strong> scores twice as the Boston Bruins<\/a> beat the Calgary Flames<\/a>, 3-1, in Beijing. The win gives the Bruins a two-game sweep of the Flames in the NHL China Series.<\/p>\n
