However, the team reported he will head home and be further evaluated after the series. Dreger reported that Ferland is going to his home in Manitoba instead of Vancouver.

Ferland only played 14 games for the Canucks this year because of concussion issues. He suffered a concussion on Oct. 30 during a fight against Kyle Clifford who was playing for the Los Angeles Kings at the time. Ferland returned for two games in December but was placed on long-term injured reserve on Dec. 14 and didn’t play for the rest of the regular season.

Ferland is in his first of a four year 14 million deal with the Canucks. In 14 games Ferland scored five points. Between 2017-2019 Ferland scored 38 goals and 81 points. He also finished 32nd in the league in hits.

Going Forward

This adds another forward out for the Canucks. Forwards Tyler Toffoli and Adam Gaudette were unavailable for Game 2. If both players are unavailable for Game 3 along with Ferland, chances are Zack McEwen will get into the line-up. McEwen played 17 games for the Canucks this season, scoring five goals and six points. Ferland was playing in the Canucks bottom six and McEwan is a bottom-six player. So it should be a smooth transition.

Main Photo:
Embed from Getty Images

Vancouver Canucks announced that left-winger Micheal Ferland was unfit to play and is out for the rest of their play-in series against the Minnesota Wild.
