Matthews has scored three goals in his eight games against the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/nhl-teams\/blue-jackets\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Columbus Blue Jackets<\/a>, the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/nhl-teams\/maple-leafs\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Toronto Maple Leafs<\/a>&#8216; Qualifying Round opponent. What&#8217;s most intriguing about Matthews is his 10 goals in 20 career playoff games, albeit his potential <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tsn.ca\/auston-matthews-confirms-he-had-covid-19-1.1494969\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">health question marks<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/nhl-teams\/oilers\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Edmonton Oilers<\/a> teammates<a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/d\/draisle01.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong> Leon Draisaitl<\/strong> <\/a>and <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/m\/mcdavco01.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Connor McDavid<\/a><\/strong> follow at +1000, and if you&#8217;re going chalk, it has to be Draisaitl. On top of 43 goals in 71 games in 2019\u201320, Draisaitl has seven goals in 15 career games versus the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/nhl-teams\/blackhawks\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Chicago Blackhawks<\/a> with a superb 21.9 shooting percentage. Draisaitl elevates his game in the postseason, scoring six times in 13 games on an otherwordly 27.3 shooting percentage.<\/p>\n<p>McDavid on the other hand might be someone to avoid. He&#8217;s only scored twice in 11 games versus the Blackhawks, and five times in 13 playoff games on a 13.5 shooting percentage.<\/p>\n<p>Behind the two Oilers is <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/nhl-teams\/rangers\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">New York Rangers<\/a> forward <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/z\/zibanmi01.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Mika Zibanejad<\/strong><\/a> at +1100. Zibanejad&#8217;s 12 goals in 25 games against the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/nhl-teams\/hurricanes\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Carolina Hurricanes<\/a>, the Rangers Qualifying Round opponent, might be all you need to lock him in. Looking a little further shows Zibanejad may not be a great choice: he has four goals in 28 career playoff games, tallying on under six percent of his shots.<\/p>\n<p>Rounding out the top five is <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/nhl-teams\/jets\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Winnipeg Jets<\/a> forward <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/c\/connoky01.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Kyle Connor<\/strong><\/a> at +1800, who&#8217;s again another sketchy pick. Connor&#8217;s yet to light the lamp in six games against his opponent, the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/nhl-teams\/flames\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Calgary Flames.<\/a> He&#8217;s scored six goals in 23 playoff games, but it&#8217;s a pass for me.<\/p>\n<div class=\"td-a-rec td-a-rec-id-content_inline td_uid_2_5f0b80c041428_rand td_block_template_1\">\n<h3>Smart, Valuable Plays<\/h3>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"td-a-rec td-a-rec-id-content_inline td_uid_2_5f0b80c041428_rand td_block_template_1\">\n<h5><strong>Patrick Kane +2200 (versus Edmonton Oilers)<\/strong><\/h5>\n<p>If you want someone who&#8217;s been there done that, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/k\/kanepa01.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Patrick Kane<\/strong><\/a>&#8216;s your man. Only <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/c\/crosbsi01.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Sidney Crosby<\/strong><\/a> and<strong> Jake Guentzel<\/strong> have more goals per playoff game than Kane (active skaters, minimum 25 games), who&#8217;s burying nearly four of every 10 playoff games.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Versus his opponent: 43 games played, 18 goals, 12.3 shooting percentage<br \/>\nPlayoff career: 127 games played, 50 goals, 12.7 shooting percentage.<\/p>\n<div class=\"td-a-rec td-a-rec-id-content_inline td_uid_2_5f0b80c041428_rand td_block_template_1\">\n<h5><strong>John Tavares +2500 (versus Columbus Blue Jackets)<\/strong><\/h5>\n<p>Despite a down year in goals, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/t\/tavarjo01.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>John Tavares<\/strong><\/a> could benefit from his Qualifying Round matchup. He&#8217;s scored over .5 goals per game in his career against the Blue Jackets\u00a0and this is definitely another series that seems destined for the full five games.<\/p>\n<p>Versus his opponent: 27 games played, 14 goals, 15.6 shooting percentage<br \/>\nPlayoff career: 31 games played, 13 goals, 13 shooting percentage.<\/p>\n<h5><strong>Jake Guentzel +3300 (versus Montreal Canadiens)<\/strong><\/h5>\n<p>Where do you start with Jake Guentzel and the Stanley Cup Playoffs? Whether it&#8217;s his .59 playoff goals per game or his five goals in eight games versus his opponent, the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/nhl-teams\/canadiens\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Montreal Canadiens<\/a>, Guentzel undoubtedly has the best value in the entire pool.<\/p>\n<p>Versus his opponent<strong>:<\/strong> 8 games played, 5 goals, 27.8 shooting percentage<br \/>\nPlayoff career<strong>:<\/strong> 41 games played, 24 goals, 24.7 shooting percentage.<\/p>\n<h5><strong>Johnny Gaudreau +4000 (versus Winnipeg Jets)<\/strong><\/h5>\n<p>It&#8217;s not the playoff statistics that make <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/g\/gaudrjo01.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Johnny Gaudreau<\/a> a worthwhile wager, it&#8217;s his opponent. Gaudreau recorded nine goals in only 15 games against Winnipeg, and it should be a close but high-scoring series between the two Canadian clubs.<\/p>\n<p>Versus his opponent<strong>:<\/strong> 15 games played, 9 goals, 19.6 shooting percentage<br \/>\nPlayoff career: 20 games played, 4 goals, 8.3 shooting percentage.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<h3>Long Shot Bets<\/h3>\n<h5><strong>Kevin Fiala +6600 (versus Vancouver Canucks)<\/strong><\/h5>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/f\/fialake01.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Kevin Fiala<\/strong> <\/a>tied his career-high for goals in 2019\u201320 and has found prior success against his Qualifying Round opponent <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/nhl-teams\/canucks\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Vancouver Canucks<\/a> in the past. At +6000, Fiala&#8217;s a fine risk to take. If the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/nhl-teams\/wild\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Minnesota Wild<\/a> are going to advance, it&#8217;s because Fiala will have showed up.<\/p>\n<p>Versus his opponent<strong>:<\/strong> 9 games played, 4 goals, 21.1 shooting percentage<br \/>\nPlayoff career<strong>:<\/strong> 18 games played, 5 goals, 11.4 shooting percentage.<\/p>\n<h5><strong>Phil Kessel +8000 (versus Nashville Predators)<\/strong><\/h5>\n<p>Two reasons make <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/k\/kesseph01.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Phil Kessel<\/strong><\/a> an easy long-shot bet: his 33 playoff goals and absurd +8000 odds. The <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/nhl-teams\/predators\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Nashville Predators<\/a> are by no means been defensively sound and Kessel should be nice and rested after a slumping regular season in Arizona.<\/p>\n<p>Versus his opponent<strong>:<\/strong> 19 games played, 8 goals, 14 shooting percentage<br \/>\nPlayoff career<strong>:<\/strong> 87 games played, 33 goals, 11.9 shooting percentage.<\/p>\n<h5><strong>Jordan Eberle +8000 (versus Florida Panthers)<\/strong><\/h5>\n<p>Seven goals in 19 games versus the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/nhl-teams\/panthers\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Florida Panthers<\/a> and +8000 odds has a nice ring to it when scrolling through the deep end of this prop bet. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/e\/eberljo01.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Jordan Eberle<\/strong>\u00a0<\/a>scored four goals in eight playoff games last year too, meaning he&#8217;s worth the potential payout.<\/p>\n<p>Versus his opponent<strong>:<\/strong> 19 games played, 7 goals, 16.7 shooting percentage<br \/>\nPlayoff career<strong>:<\/strong> 21 games played, 4 goals, 8.5 shooting percentage.<\/p>\n<h5><strong>Matt Duchene +8000 (versus Arizona Coyotes)<\/strong><\/h5>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/d\/duchema01.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Matt Duchene<\/strong><\/a> had a rough campaign this past winter but history shows the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/nhl-teams\/coyotes\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Arizona Coyotes<\/a> may be what the doctor ordered. Duchene&#8217;s eleven tallies on almost two of every 10 shots is intriguing, especially when that percentage remains high come playoff time.<\/p>\n<p>Versus his opponent<strong>:<\/strong> 31 games played, 11 goals, 19.3 shooting percentage<br \/>\nPlayoff career<strong>:<\/strong> 18 games played, 5 goals, 18.5 shooting percentage.<\/p>\n<h3>The Actual Plays<\/h3>\n<p>I&#8217;d be remiss without actually stating where my money is laying.
