Kampfer and Trotman Opt-Out<\/h2>\n

As NHL players across the United States and Canada prepare for<\/span> training camps<\/span><\/a> to begin on July 13, <\/span>Boston Bruins\u2019<\/span><\/a> defenceman <\/span>Steven Kampfer<\/a><\/b> and <\/span>Pittsburgh Penguins\u2019<\/span><\/a> defenceman <\/span>Zach Trotman<\/a><\/b> made the decision to opt-out of the modified postseason on Saturday.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

In addition, the <\/span>Edmonton Oilers\u2019<\/span><\/a> <\/b>Mike Green<\/a><\/b> dropped out of the season due to health concerns for his family. <\/span>Minnesota Wild<\/a><\/span>\u00a0<\/b>Greg Pateryn<\/a><\/b> is unable to play due to an upper-body injury. All NHL players can opt-out without a penalty until Monday.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

In a tweet, Kampfer announced that he will be skipping the postseason qualifiers as both his wife and son have <\/span>a congenital defect that puts them higher risk if they are infected with COVID-19.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
