Subban<\/a><\/strong> and <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/w\/webersh01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Shea Weber<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h2>Today in Hockey History<\/h2>\n<h3>P.K. Subban Dealt to Predators for Shea Weber<\/h3>\n<p><strong>2016:<\/strong> One of the wildest days in transactions takes place on this date. The <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/nhl-teams\/devils\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">New Jersey Devils<\/a> acquire former top pick<strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/search\/search.fcgi?pid=hallta02,hallta01&amp;search=Taylor+Hall&amp;utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Taylor Hall<\/a><\/strong> from the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/nhl-teams\/oilers\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Edmonton Oilers<\/a>. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/l\/larssad01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Adam Larsson<\/a><\/strong> comes to Edmonton in return at 3:34 p.m. ET. Hall wins the Hart Trophy for MVP in the 2017-18 season.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/nhl-teams\/canadiens\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Montreal Canadiens<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/nhl-teams\/predators\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Nashville Predators<\/a> swap All-Star defencemen just 20 minutes later. Montreal parts with the charismatic Subban for the Weber, who is Nashville&#8217;s captain. Subban helps the Predators reach their first Stanley Cup Final in franchise history the next season.<\/p>\n<p>The<a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/nhl-teams\/lightning\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"> Tampa Bay Lightning<\/a> lock down<strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/s\/stamkst01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Steven Stamkos<\/a><\/strong> for eight years just 13 minutes later. Stamkos spurns advances from other teams to stay with the only team he&#8217;s skated with.<\/p>\n<h3>Other Notable Events<\/h3>\n<p><strong>1967:<\/strong> The expansion <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/nhl-teams\/blues\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">St. Louis Blues<\/a> sign Hall of Fame defenceman <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/h\/harvedo01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Doug Harvey<\/a><\/strong> to coach their minor league team in Kansas City. Harvey comes out of retirement to play for the Blues in 1968.<\/p>\n<p><strong>1990:<\/strong> Montreal acquires <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/s\/savarde01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Denis Savard<\/a><\/strong> 10 years after passing on him in the draft. The Habs send <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/c\/chelich01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Chris Chelios<\/a><\/strong> to his hometown <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/nhl-teams\/blackhawks\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Chicago Blackhawks<\/a>. Savard doesn&#8217;t score like he used to, but he&#8217;s important in Montreal&#8217;s 1993 Cup win. Chelios plays five years with the Blackhawks before being traded to the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/nhl-teams\/red-wings\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Detroit Red Wings<\/a>. The American defenceman retires in 2010 after 1,651 games and 948 points (185 goals, 763 assists); he plays on three Cup-winning teams.<\/p>\n<p><strong>1995:<\/strong> Chicago names <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/h\/hartscr01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Craig Hartsburg<\/a><\/strong> as the team&#8217;s new head coach. He replaces <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/s\/sutteda01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Darryl Sutter<\/a><\/strong>, who resigned a month ago.<\/p>\n<p><strong>1999:<\/strong> The <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/nhl-teams\/senators\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Ottawa Senators<\/a> acquire <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/z\/zamunro01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Rob Zamuner<\/a><\/strong> and a future draft pick from Tampa Bay. Ottawa gets <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/j\/johanan01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Andreas Johansson<\/a><\/strong> to complete a deal that allows Tampa to sign Ottawa general manager <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/d\/dudleri01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Rick Dudley<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>2013:<\/strong> The <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/nhl-teams\/avalanche\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Colorado Avalanche<\/a> select <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/m\/mackina01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Nathan MacKinnon<\/a><\/strong> with the first pick of the draft. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/b\/barkoal01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Aleksander Barkov<\/a><\/strong> goes second to the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/nhl-teams\/panthers\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Florida Panthers<\/a> while <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/d\/drouijo01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Jonathan Drouin<\/a><\/strong> is picked third to Tampa Bay. Defenceman <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/j\/jonesse01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Seth Jones<\/a><\/strong> goes to Nashville at the No. 4 spot.<\/p>\n<p><strong>2018: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/r\/reirdto01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Todd Reirden<\/a><\/strong> becomes the new head coach of the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/nhl-teams\/capitals\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Washington Capitals<\/a>. He replaces <strong>Barry Trotz,<\/strong> who joined the division rival <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/nhl-teams\/islanders\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">New York Islanders<\/a>.
