Here\u2019s our look at this date in hockey history for June 24th, featuring <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/b\/bollada01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Dave Bolland<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h2>Today in Hockey History<\/h2>\n<h3><a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/b\/bollada01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Dave Bolland<\/a> Wins Stanley Cup for Chicago<\/h3>\n<p><strong>2013:<\/strong> The <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/nhl-teams\/blackhawks\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Chicago Blackhawks<\/a> forward helps the team rally for their second title in four seasons. Chicago was trailing the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/nhl-teams\/bruins\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Boston Bruins<\/a> by a goal with 90 seconds left in Game 6. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/b\/bickebr01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Bryan Bickell<\/a><\/strong> ties the game before Blackhawks coach <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/q\/quennjo01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Joel Quenneville<\/a><\/strong> can pull <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/c\/crawfco01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Corey Crawford<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/OInInvlgNa0\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Bolland clinches the Stanley Cup with 58.3 seconds left after beating Boston goalie <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/r\/rasktu01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Tuukka Rask<\/a><\/strong>. The teams were closing in on their fourth overtime game of the Final before the game-winning goal. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/k\/kanepa01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Patrick Kane<\/a><\/strong> takes home the Conn Smythe for playoff MVP.<\/p>\n<h3>Other Notable Events<\/h3>\n<p><strong>1980:<\/strong> The<a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/nhl-teams\/flames\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"> Calgary Flames<\/a> are born after the team relocates from Atlanta. They play in the Stampede Corral before the Saddledome is finished for the 1983-84 season.<\/p>\n<p><strong>1995:<\/strong> The <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/nhl-teams\/devils\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">New Jersey Devils<\/a> win their first Stanley Cup in franchise history. New Jersey shocks the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/nhl-teams\/red-wings\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Detroit Red Wings<\/a> four straight with a 5-2 victory. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/b\/brotene01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Neal Broten<\/a><\/strong> and <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/c\/chambsh01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Shawn Chambers<\/a><\/strong> each score twice for the Devils.<\/p>\n<p><strong>2000:<\/strong> The<a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/nhl-teams\/islanders\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"> New York Islanders<\/a> take <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/d\/dipieri01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Rick DiPietro<\/a><\/strong> with the top selection of the 2000 NHL Draft. DiPietro is the first goalie taken at No. 1 overall since the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/nhl-teams\/canadiens\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Montreal Canadiens<\/a> got <span id=\"token-C96CCA532322FF29DC9B8\" class=\"token token-hyperLink\"><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/p\/plassmi01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Michel Plasse<\/a><\/strong> in 1968. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/h\/heatlda01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Dany Heatley<\/a><\/strong> goes second to the<a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/nhl-teams\/jets\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"> Atlanta Thrashers<\/a> while the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/nhl-teams\/wild\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Minnesota Wild<\/a> grab <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/g\/gaborma01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Marian Gaborik<\/a><\/strong> at No. 3.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>2006:<\/strong> Boston gets Rask from the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/nhl-teams\/maple-leafs\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Toronto Maple Leafs<\/a> in exchange for <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/r\/raycran01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Andrew Raycroft<\/a><\/strong>. The Bruins get the better of the deal as Raycroft plays only two years with the Leafs and eventually plays for three other teams. Rask becomes the Bruins all-time leader in wins and makes two Stanley Cup Finals.<\/p>\n<p><strong>2011:<\/strong> The<a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/nhl-teams\/sharks\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"> San Jose Sharks<\/a> get <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/b\/burnsbr01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Brent Burns<\/a><\/strong> in a deal with the Wild. Minnesota gets <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/s\/setogde01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Devin Setoguchi<\/a><\/strong> and <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/c\/coylech01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Charlie Coyle<\/a><\/strong> in the swap. San Jose also gets Minnesota&#8217;s second-rounder in 2012 while the Wild get the Sharks&#8217; first round choice in 2011.<\/p>\n<p><strong>2016:<\/strong> Toronto takes <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/m\/matthau01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Auston Matthews<\/a><\/strong> with the top pick of the 2016 NHL Draft. Matthews decided to play professionally in Switzerland rather than juniors.
