Here\u2019s our look at this date in hockey history for June 15th, featuring <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/t\/thomati01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Tim Thomas<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h2>Today in Hockey History<\/h2>\n<h3>Tim Thomas Gets Shutout in Game 7<\/h3>\n<p><strong>2011:<\/strong> The<a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/nhl-teams\/bruins\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"> Boston Bruins<\/a> goalie makes 37 saves as they beat the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/nhl-teams\/canucks\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Vancouver Canucks<\/a>, 4-0, in Game 7. Thomas takes the Conn Smythe Trophy for playoff MVP by limiting Vancouver to eight goals for the series. The record was held by a pair of goalies in 1945. <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/nhl-teams\/red-wings\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Detroit Red Wings<\/a> netminder <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/l\/lumleha01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Harry Lumley<\/a><\/strong> and <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/nhl-teams\/maple-leafs\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Toronto Maple Leafs<\/a> goalie <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/m\/mccoofr01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Frank McCool<\/a><\/strong> only allowed nine.<\/p>\n<p>The win gives Boston its first Stanley Cup since 1972. Both <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/b\/bergepa01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Patrice Bergeron<\/a><\/strong> and<strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/m\/marchbr03.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Brad Marchand<\/a><\/strong> each score twice in the victory.
