We\u2019ll remember the moments that shaped the sport of hockey that happened on this day. Here\u2019s our look at this date in hockey history for May 27th, featuring Bernie Parent<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Today in Hockey History<\/h2>\n

Bernie Parent Wins Conn Smythe as Flyers Repeat<\/h3>\n

1975:<\/strong> The Philadelphia Flyers<\/a> goalie stops 32 shots as they blank the Buffalo Sabres<\/a>, 2-0, to win their second consecutive Stanley Cup. It’s the sixth and final post-season shutout of Parent’s career to win the Conn Smythe Trophy. He won the playoff MVP award in the previous post-season. Parent is the first player to win back-to-back playoff MVP awards.<\/p>\n

Bob Kelly<\/a><\/strong> scores 11 seconds into the third period with a goal past Roger Crozier<\/a><\/strong>. Bill Clement<\/a><\/strong> adds an insurance goal with 2:47 left in regulation.<\/p>\n

Other Notable Events<\/h3>\n

1993: Wayne Gretzky<\/a><\/strong> forces Game 7 with an overtime for the Los Angeles Kings<\/a> in the Western Conference Final. Gretzky lifts the Kings with a goal 1:41 into OT in the Game 6 win over the Toronto Maple Leafs<\/a>.<\/p>\n

1994: <\/b>Stephane Matteau<\/a><\/span> <\/strong>scores 4:24 into the second overtime as the New York Rangers<\/a> edged the New Jersey Devils<\/a>, 2-1. His goal gets the Rangers to their first final since 1979.<\/p>\n

1995: Paul Coffey<\/a><\/strong> becomes the highest-scoring defenceman in the playoffs with a goal and an assist for the Detroit Red Wings<\/a>. Coffey passes Denis Potvin<\/a><\/strong> as Detroit beats the San Jose Sharks<\/a>, 6-2, in Game 4 of the West semis.<\/p>\n

2003: Martin Brodeur<\/a><\/strong> makes 16 saves as the Devils blank Mighty Ducks of Anaheim<\/a>, 3-0, in Game 1 of the Final. Brodeur is the second goalie to have a shutout in each playoff round.<\/p>\n

2004: Brad Richards<\/a><\/strong> ties a post-season record with his sixth game-winning goal in the same year. Richards helps the Tampa Bay Lightning<\/a> win Game 1 of the Final, 4-1, over the Calgary Flames<\/a>.<\/p>\n

2006:<\/strong> Edmonton is the first No. 8 seed to reach a Cup Final with a 2-1 win over Anaheim. Raffi Torres<\/a><\/strong> gets the game-winner and Dwayne Roloson<\/a><\/strong> makes 32 saves for the Oilers.<\/p>\n

2011: Nathan Horton<\/a> <\/strong>scores 12:27 into the third period as the Boston Bruins<\/a> edged Tampa Bay, 1-0, in Game 7 of the Eastern final. Horton is the first to score two Game 7-winners in the same post-season.<\/p>\n

2014: Rene Bourque<\/a><\/strong>‘s hat trick helps the Montreal Canadiens<\/a> win 7-4 over the Rangers in Game 5. Bourque is the player to score three goals in an elimination game since Maurice Richard<\/a> in 1945.<\/p>\n

2015: Duncan Keith<\/a><\/strong> gets three assists as the Chicago Blackhawks<\/a> win 5-2 in Game 6 over Anaheim.<\/p>\n
