We will do a series called NHL Comic Captions by team collecting some photos with humorous captions to entertain you during this suspension in play\u2026 and perhaps cheer you up a bit. Today we cover the Dallas Stars<\/a>\u00a0comic captions for the 2019-20 season.<\/p>\n

Dallas Stars Comic Captions for 2019-20<\/h2>\n

Jamie Benn<\/h3>\n

Jamie Benn<\/a><\/strong> has been an enigma of late for the Dallas Stars. He signed a lucrative contract worth $76 million over eight years in July of 2016. Now, he started out well gaining 69 points in the 2016-17 season. He followed that up with another good showing with 79 points the next season. Then, the bottom fell out for him. He’s only managed 53 points last season and just 39 points during this suspended season.<\/p>\n

So, what’s up with Jamie Benn? 39 points while earning $9.5 million just isn’t going to do it. He is still a physical player with some marginally unwise hits to his credit. The problem is he is signed until the 2024-25 season and he needs to wake up and start producing again. Does he think he can just show up and the points will come to him? Has his power forward game dropped off now that he is 30 years old? We are not sure. One thing is certain, he possesses the talent and needs to tap into it.<\/p>\n

The Dallas Stars could be a much better team if they could score more. They rank 28th in scoring while being outstanding on defence, ranking second. Benn can help their success but he needs to figure out how to score more.<\/p>\n

Jamie Benn, forward – Dallas Stars<\/strong><\/p>\n

Tyler Seguin<\/h3>\n

While Tyler Seguin<\/a><\/strong> led the team in scoring he only obtained 50 points from 17 goals and 33 assists this season. It goes without saying that if both Seguin and Benn can score equal to their potential, the Stars would be a pretty awesome team.<\/p>\n

Seguin took the most shots on the team this season firing 245 shots on net. The problem was that he only scored on 6.9 percent of those shots. Seguin’s scoring has dropped as he has surpassed 30 goals five times in his 10 year NHL career. To further emphasize his downfall, he averaged 0.72 points per game this season. That’s his lowest since the 2012-13 shortened season of only 48 games when he had 0.67 points per game. Is it a drop-off in his game, or just a lack of shooting luck?<\/p>\n

Between Benn and Seguin something has to give. They both have large contracts and are not producing. Seguin’s deal was for eight-years and $78.8 million when he signed in September of 2018. That’s $19.35 million for just 89 points between the two forwards. Wow.<\/p>\n

Tyler Seguin, forward – Dallas Stars<\/strong><\/p>\n

Anton Khudobin<\/h3>\n

Anton Khudobin<\/a><\/strong> was one of the NHL’s best backup goalies this season. He accumulated a 16-8-4 record with a .930 save percentage and a 2.22 goals-against-average. He will be an unrestricted free agent after this season, so the Stars need to determine if he stays or goes. With both their goalies up in age a bit, it will be interesting to see what happens. Of course, if the Stars can jump-start their offence even a little, their defence and goaltending can lead the way.<\/p>\n

As it stands now, if the NHL decides to move forward with the 24-team playoff series<\/a>, the Stars would face the winner of the Edmonton Oilers<\/a>\/Chicago Blackhawks<\/a> series. As always, goaltending will play an integral role in the playoffs. With the Stars having two of the best in the league, their chances will be augmented. Of course, if they start scoring more their chances of moving on in the projected playoffs will rise significantly.<\/p>\n
