Here\u2019s our look at this date in hockey history for May 9th, featuring <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/l\/lupuljo01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Joffrey Lupul<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h2>Today in Hockey History<\/h2>\n<h3>Joffrey Lupul Scores Four in Ducks Victory<\/h3>\n<p><strong>2006:<\/strong> The<a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/nhl-teams\/ducks\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"> Mighty Ducks of Anaheim<\/a> forward scores four goals, including the overtime-winner in a 4-3 victory over the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/nhl-teams\/avalanche\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Colorado Avalanche<\/a>. Lupul nets the winner 16:30 into OT to win Game 3 of the Western Semifinals. He&#8217;s the first to cap a four-goal night in the playoffs with an extra-session winner.<\/p>\n<p>The loss snapped the Avalanche&#8217;s six-game overtime playoff winning-streak. Anaheim would go on to sweep Colorado in four straight. The Ducks post-season run ends in the conference finals against the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/nhl-teams\/oilers\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Edmonton Oilers<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h3>Other Notable Events<\/h3>\n<p><strong>1974: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/c\/clarkbo01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Bobby Clarke<\/a><\/strong> scores 12:01 into overtime as the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/nhl-teams\/flyers\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Philadelphia Flyers<\/a> beat the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/nhl-teams\/bruins\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Boston Bruins<\/a>, 3-2. The win helps the Flyers snap a 19-game winless-streak at Boston Garden. Philadelphia ties the Stanley Cup Final at one game apiece.<\/p>\n<p><strong>1978: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/d\/drydeke01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Ken Dryden<\/a><\/strong>&#8216;s 23 saves lead the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/nhl-teams\/canadiens\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Montreal Canadiens<\/a> to a 2-0 Game 4 victory over the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/nhl-teams\/maple-leafs\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Toronto Maple Leafs<\/a>. It&#8217;s his 10th and final post-season shutout of his career.<\/p>\n<p><strong>1981:<\/strong> The <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/nhl-teams\/stars\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Minnesota North Stars<\/a> reach their first Stanley Cup Final. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/p\/palmebr01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Brad Palmer<\/a><\/strong> scores twice in a 5-3 Game 6 win over the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/nhl-teams\/flames\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Calgary Flames<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>1985: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/s\/savarde01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Denis Savard<\/a><\/strong> has a goal and two assists in the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/nhl-teams\/blackhawks\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Chicago Blackhawks<\/a> 5-2 Game 3 win over Edmonton. Chicago&#8217;s victory snaps Edmonton&#8217;s record streak of 12 post-season wins in a row.<\/p>\n<p><strong>1999: Scotty Bowman<\/strong> is the first coach to win 200 post-season games.
