Here\u2019s our look at this date in hockey history for May 7th, featuring <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/t\/toewsjo01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Jonathan Toews<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h2>Today in Hockey History<\/h2>\n<h3>Jonathan Toews Scores Three Power-Play Goals in One Period<\/h3>\n<p><strong>2010:<\/strong> The <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/nhl-teams\/blackhawks\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Chicago Blackhawks<\/a> captain ties a record for three power-play goals in the second period. Toews collects five points in a 7-4 Game 4 win over the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/nhl-teams\/canucks\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Vancouver Canucks<\/a>. He&#8217;s the fifth Chicago player to get five points in a post-season game.<\/p>\n<p>Chicago would go on to take the series in Game 6 after winning all three road games at GM Place in British Columbia. The Blackhawks would eventually win their first Stanley Cup since 1961 after beat the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/nhl-teams\/flyers\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Philadelphia Flyers<\/a> in six games.<\/p>\n<h3>Other Notable Events<\/h3>\n<p><strong>1972: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/o\/orrbo01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Bobby Orr<\/a><\/strong> scores twice and sets up another goal as the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/nhl-teams\/bruins\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Boston Bruins<\/a> beat the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/nhl-teams\/rangers\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">New York Rangers<\/a>, 3-2, in Game 4 of the Final. Orr gets to 22 points.<\/p>\n<p><strong>1983: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/b\/bossymi01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Mike Bossy<\/a><\/strong>&#8216;s four goals carry the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/nhl-teams\/islanders\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">New York Islanders<\/a> to their fourth straight Stanley Cup Final. The Isles would beat the Bruins, 8-4, to win the Wales Conference Final in six games.<\/p>\n<p><strong>1985:<\/strong> The <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/nhl-teams\/oilers\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Edmonton Oilers<\/a> remain unbeaten in the playoffs and set a record of 12 post-season wins in a row. <strong>Jarri Kurri<\/strong> scores three goals in a 7-3 victory in Game 2 of the Campbell Conference Final over the Blackhawks.<\/p>\n<p><strong>1993:<\/strong> It&#8217;s a huge night for <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/g\/gretzwa01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Wayne Gretzky<\/a><\/strong> in the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/nhl-teams\/kings\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Los Angeles Kings<\/a> 7-4 win over Vancouver. Gretzky scores twice to reach 100 post-season goals in the Game 3 win in the Smythe Final. He also gets his record-breaking 19th game-winning goal in the playoffs.<\/p>\n<p><strong>2000: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/d\/delmoan01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Andy Delmore<\/a><\/strong> is the first rookie defenceman to score three goals in a playoff game. He leads the Flyers to 6-3 win over the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/nhl-teams\/penguins\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Pittsburgh Penguins<\/a> in Game 5 of the Eastern semifinals.<\/p>\n<p><strong>2006: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/b\/bryzgil01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Ilya Bryzgalov<\/a><\/strong> becomes the seventh goalie in NHL history to have three consecutive playoffs shutouts. His 22 saves lead the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/nhl-teams\/ducks\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Anaheim Ducks<\/a> to a 3-0 Game 2 win over the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/nhl-teams\/avalanche\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Colorado Avalanche<\/a> in the West semis.<\/p>\n<p><strong>2010: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/r\/recchma01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Mark Recchi<\/a><\/strong> is the oldest player to score multiple goals in Boston&#8217;s 5-4 Game 4 overtime loss to Philadelphia.
