Here\u2019s our look at this date in hockey history for May 6th, featuring <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/l\/leachre01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Reggie Leach<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h2>Today in Hockey History<\/h2>\n<h3><a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/l\/leachre01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Reggie Leach<\/a> Scores Five Times in One Post-Season Game<\/h3>\n<p><strong>1976:<\/strong> Leach ties<strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/r\/richama01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Maurice Richard<\/a><\/strong> and <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/s\/sittlda01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Darryl Sittler<\/a><\/strong>&#8216;s postseason record for goals in a game as the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/nhl-teams\/flyers\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Philadelphia Flyers<\/a> book a place in the Stanley Cup Final. The Flyers beat the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/nhl-teams\/bruins\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Boston Bruins<\/a>, 6-3, in Game 5 of the semifinals. Leach also sets a record for goals in consecutive games with nine.<\/p>\n<p>It was an efficient night for Leach, as he scored five goals on seven shots in the win. The <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/nhl-teams\/canadiens\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Montreal Canadiens<\/a> would sweep the Flyers in four straight to win the Cup.<\/p>\n<h3>Other Notable Events<\/h3>\n<p><strong>1973: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/d\/drydeke01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Ken Dryden<\/a><\/strong> gets his first of 10 playoff shutouts in the Habs&#8217; 4-0 win over the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/nhl-teams\/blackhawks\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Chicago Blackhawks<\/a>. Dryden makes 19 saves in the Canadiens&#8217; Game 5 win in the Final.<\/p>\n<p><strong>1976:<\/strong> Montreal starts a string of 11 consecutive post-season wins with 5-2 win over the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/nhl-teams\/islanders\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">New York Islanders<\/a> in Game 5 of the semifinals. The Canadiens wouldn&#8217;t lose until April 28, 1977.<\/p>\n<p><strong>1982:<\/strong> The <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/nhl-teams\/canucks\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Vancouver Canucks<\/a> reach their first Final with a 6-2 victory over Chicago in Game 5 of the Campbell Conference Final. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/l\/lindgla01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Lars Lindgren<\/a><\/strong> gets three assists for the Canucks in the win.<\/p>\n<p><strong>1994: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/d\/dahleul01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Ulf Dahlen<\/a><\/strong> scores the first post-season hat trick in<a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/nhl-teams\/sharks\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"> San Jose Sharks<\/a> history. Dahlen helps San Jose beat the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/nhl-teams\/maple-leafs\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Toronto Maple Leafs<\/a>, 5-2, in Game 1 of Western Conference semifinals.<\/p>\n<p><strong>1995: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/s\/sakicjo01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Joe Sakic<\/a><\/strong>&#8216;s hat trick lifts the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/nhl-teams\/avalanche\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Quebec Nordiques<\/a> to a 5-4 comeback over the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/nhl-teams\/rangers\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">New York Rangers<\/a> in Game 1 of Eastern Conference Quarterfinals.<\/p>\n<p><strong>2010: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/f\/franzjo01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Johan Franzen<\/a><\/strong> scores the second-fastest hat trick in playoff history as the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/nhl-teams\/red-wings\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Detroit Red Wings<\/a> beat San Jose 4-1 in Game 4 of the Western Conference semifinals.
