We\u2019ll remember the moments that shaped the sport of hockey that happened on this day. Here\u2019s our look at this date in hockey history for May 6th, featuring Reggie Leach<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Today in Hockey History<\/h2>\n

Reggie Leach<\/a> Scores Five Times in One Post-Season Game<\/h3>\n

1976:<\/strong> Leach ties Maurice Richard<\/a><\/strong> and Darryl Sittler<\/a><\/strong>‘s postseason record for goals in a game as the Philadelphia Flyers<\/a> book a place in the Stanley Cup Final. The Flyers beat the Boston Bruins<\/a>, 6-3, in Game 5 of the semifinals. Leach also sets a record for goals in consecutive games with nine.<\/p>\n

It was an efficient night for Leach, as he scored five goals on seven shots in the win. The Montreal Canadiens<\/a> would sweep the Flyers in four straight to win the Cup.<\/p>\n

Other Notable Events<\/h3>\n

1973: Ken Dryden<\/a><\/strong> gets his first of 10 playoff shutouts in the Habs’ 4-0 win over the Chicago Blackhawks<\/a>. Dryden makes 19 saves in the Canadiens’ Game 5 win in the Final.<\/p>\n

1976:<\/strong> Montreal starts a string of 11 consecutive post-season wins with 5-2 win over the New York Islanders<\/a> in Game 5 of the semifinals. The Canadiens wouldn’t lose until April 28, 1977.<\/p>\n

1982:<\/strong> The Vancouver Canucks<\/a> reach their first Final with a 6-2 victory over Chicago in Game 5 of the Campbell Conference Final. Lars Lindgren<\/a><\/strong> gets three assists for the Canucks in the win.<\/p>\n

1994: Ulf Dahlen<\/a><\/strong> scores the first post-season hat trick in San Jose Sharks<\/a> history. Dahlen helps San Jose beat the Toronto Maple Leafs<\/a>, 5-2, in Game 1 of Western Conference semifinals.<\/p>\n

1995: Joe Sakic<\/a><\/strong>‘s hat trick lifts the Quebec Nordiques<\/a> to a 5-4 comeback over the New York Rangers<\/a> in Game 1 of Eastern Conference Quarterfinals.<\/p>\n

2010: Johan Franzen<\/a><\/strong> scores the second-fastest hat trick in playoff history as the Detroit Red Wings<\/a> beat San Jose 4-1 in Game 4 of the Western Conference semifinals. Franzen completes his hat trick in a span of 3:26 and is completed 11:16 into play.<\/p>\n

2012: Martin Brodeur<\/a><\/strong> celebrates his 40th birthday with 20 saves for the New Jersey Devils<\/a>. Brodeur guides the Devils to a 4-2 win in Game 4 over the Flyers.<\/p>\n

2015: Tyler Johnson<\/a><\/strong> scores with 1.1 seconds as the Tampa Bay Lightning edges Montreal, 2-1, in Game 3 of Eastern Conference Semi-final.<\/p>\n

2018:<\/strong> The Vegas Golden Knights<\/a> are the third team to win two playoff series in their inaugural season. Vegas beats San Jose 3-0 in Game 6 of the Western Conference Semifinal thanks to 28 saves from Marc-Andre Fleury<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n
