Here\u2019s our look at this date in hockey history for May 4th, featuring <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/p\/primeke02.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Keith Primeau<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h2>Today in Hockey History<\/h2>\n<h3><a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/p\/primeke02.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Keith Primeau<\/a> Ends Game in Fifth Overtime<\/h3>\n<p><strong>2000:<\/strong> The<a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/nhl-teams\/flyers\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"> Philadelphia Flyers<\/a> forward scores 12:01 into the fifth overtime as they beat the<a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/nhl-teams\/penguins\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"> Pittsburgh Penguins<\/a>, 2-1. Primeau beats<strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/t\/tugnuro01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Ron Tugnutt<\/a><\/strong> on the 130th shot of the game to give the Flyers Game 4 of the Eastern semifinals. The veteran centre was dropped from the top line two days earlier.<\/p>\n<p>Primeau&#8217;s goal ends the longest game in 64 years. The game finishes at 2:35 a.m., which is seven hours after it started. Philadelphia ends up winning the series and advancing to the Eastern Conference final in six games.<\/p>\n<h3>Other Notable Events<\/h3>\n<p><strong>1969:<\/strong> The <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/nhl-teams\/canadiens\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Montreal Canadiens<\/a> sweep the<a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/nhl-teams\/blues\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"> St. Louis Blues<\/a> in the second straight Stanley Cup Final. Montreal wins 2-1 in Game 4 and <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/s\/savarse01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Serge Savard<\/a><\/strong> takes the Conn Smythe Trophy.<\/p>\n<p><strong>1972: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/p\/parkbr01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Brad Park<\/a><\/strong> scores two goals and gets two assists in the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/nhl-teams\/rangers\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">New York Rangers<\/a> 5-2 Game 3 win over the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/nhl-teams\/bruins\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Boston Bruins<\/a>. It&#8217;s the first win in the Final at Madison Square Garden since 1940.<\/p>\n<p><strong>1976: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/l\/leachre01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Reggie Leach<\/a><\/strong> ties <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/r\/richama01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Maurice Richard<\/a><\/strong>&#8216;s record of a goal in eight straight playoff games. Leach and the Flyers beat the Bruins, 4-2, in Game 4 of the semifinals.<\/p>\n<p><strong>1991: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/k\/klimape01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Petr Klima<\/a><\/strong> scores a hat trick in 5:13 as the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/nhl-teams\/oilers\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Edmonton Oilers<\/a> beat the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/nhl-teams\/stars\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Minnesota North Stars<\/a>, 7-2.
