Here\u2019s our look at this date in hockey history for April 28th, featuring <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/f\/fedorse01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Sergei Fedorov<\/a><\/strong>.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<h2>Today in Hockey History<\/h2>\n<h3><a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/f\/fedorse01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Sergei Fedorov<\/a> is Oldest to Get a Game-Winning Goal in Game 7<\/h3>\n<p><strong>2009:<\/strong> The <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/nhl-teams\/capitals\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Washington Capitals<\/a> forward scores with four minutes, 59 seconds in regulation. Fedorov helps the Capitals beat the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/nhl-teams\/rangers\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">New York Rangers<\/a>, 2-1, in Game 7 of the Eastern Conference quarterfinals. The 39-year-old is the oldest to get a game-winning goal in Game 7 of a playoff series.<\/p>\n<p>In 1992, Fedorov made history while with the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/nhl-teams\/red-wings\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Detroit Red Wings<\/a>. He scored in 16:13 of overtime to break a scoreless tie with the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/nhl-teams\/stars\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Minnesota North Stars<\/a>. The Russian beats <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/c\/caseyjo01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Jon Casey<\/a><\/strong>, but the shot appears to go off the crossbar. However, he&#8217;s awarded the goal after video review and it&#8217;s the first game-winner to be awarded by review.<\/p>\n<h3>Other Notable Events<\/h3>\n<p><strong>1968: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/l\/lemaija01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Jacques Lemaire<\/a><\/strong> scores 2:14 into overtime as the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/nhl-teams\/canadiens\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Montreal Canadiens<\/a> beat the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/nhl-teams\/blackhawks\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Chicago Blackhawks<\/a> in five games. Montreal books its fourth straight trip to the Stanley Cup Final with a 2-1 win.<\/p>\n<p><strong>1970: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/p\/plantja01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Jacques Plante<\/a><\/strong> gets his 14th and final playoff shutout in the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/nhl-teams\/blues\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">St. Louis Blues<\/a> 5-0 win over the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/nhl-teams\/penguins\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Pittsburgh Penguins<\/a>. Plante makes 20 saves as the Blues take Game 5 of the semifinals.<\/p>\n<p><strong>1984:<\/strong> Minnesota and the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/nhl-teams\/oilers\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Edmonton Oilers<\/a> score a post-season record seven power-play goals. Edmonton&#8217;s five-goal third period powers an 8-5 victory in Game 3 of the Campbell Conference Final.<\/p>\n<p><strong>1993: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/h\/hunteda02.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Dale Hunter<\/a><\/strong> cheapshots <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/t\/turgepi01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Pierre Turgeon<\/a><\/strong> into the boards in the New York Islanders Game 6 win over Washington. Turgeon scored but gets injured after the hit, which Hunter is suspended 21 games for.<\/p>\n<p><strong>1998: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/a\/alfreda01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Daniel Alfredsson<\/a><\/strong> gets his first post-season hat trick as the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/nhl-teams\/senators\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Ottawa Senators<\/a> beat the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/nhl-teams\/devils\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">New Jersey Devils<\/a>, 4-3. The Swede&#8217;s goals help the Sens win Game 4 of the Eastern Conference quarterfinals.<\/p>\n<p><strong>2001: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/m\/mogilal01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Alexander Mogilny<\/a><\/strong> gets a playoff-record four points in the second period as the Devils beat the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/nhl-teams\/maple-leafs\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Toronto Maple Leafs<\/a>, 6-5, in OT.<\/p>\n<p><strong>2009:<\/strong> The <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/nhl-teams\/hurricanes\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Carolina Hurricanes<\/a> rally for two goals in the final 1:20 to beat the Devils, 4-3. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/j\/jokinju01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Jussi Jokinen<\/a><\/strong> and <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/s\/staaler01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Eric Staal<\/a><\/strong> provided goals as the Canes win Game 7 of the first round series.<\/p>\n<p><strong>2014: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/k\/kreidch01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Chris Kreider<\/a><\/strong> of the Rangers becomes the first player to score two game-winning goals in the same postseason in which he played his first NHL game.
