Here\u2019s our look at this date in hockey history for April 12th, featuring <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/h\/hasekdo01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Dominik Hasek<\/a><\/strong>.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<h2>Today in Hockey History<\/h2>\n<h3><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/h\/hasekdo01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Dominik Hasek<\/a> Completes Season with Sub-2.00 GAA<\/h3>\n<p>1994: The <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/nhl-teams\/sabres\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Buffalo Sabres<\/a> goalie is the first goalie in 20 years to have a goals-against-average under 2.00. Hasek made 37 saves in a 3-2 loss to the New York Rangers at Madison Square Garden. He finishes with a 30-20-6 record and a 1.95 goals-against-average and seven shutouts.<\/p>\n<p>The Czech goalie is the first goalie to finish with a goals-against-average under two since <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/nhl-teams\/flyers\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Philadelphia Flyers<\/a> great <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/p\/parenbe01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Bernie Parent<\/a>.<\/strong> He recorded a 1.87 in the 1973-74 season.<\/p>\n<h3>Other Notable Events<\/h3>\n<p><strong>1945:<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/nhl-teams\/maple-leafs\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Toronto Maple Leafs<\/a> goalie <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/m\/mccoofr01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Frank McCool<\/a><\/strong> gets his third straight shutout in a 1-0 win over the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/nhl-teams\/red-wings\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Detroit Red Wings<\/a>. The Leafs would take Game 3 and win the Cup in seven.<\/p>\n<p><strong>1960: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/r\/richama01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Maurice Richard<\/a><\/strong> of the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/nhl-teams\/canadiens\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Montreal Canadiens<\/a> scores his final post-season goal in a 5-2 win over Toronto. Richard finishes with 82 Stanley Cup playoff goalies before the record is broken by <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/b\/bossymi01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Mike Bossy<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>1970:<\/strong> The <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/nhl-teams\/penguins\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Pittsburgh Penguins<\/a> are the first team to win their first four playoff games. Pittsburgh sweeps the Oakland Seals with a 3-2 OT win in the quarterfinals.<\/p>\n<p><strong>1987: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/g\/gretzwa01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Wayne Gretzky<\/a><\/strong> stars his mastery of April 12 with four assists and a goal in a 6-3 <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/nhl-teams\/oilers\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Edmonton Oilers<\/a> victory over the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/nhl-teams\/kings\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Los Angeles Kings<\/a>. The Oilers take Game 4 of the Smythe Division semifinals after blowing the game open late.<\/p>\n<p><strong>1988:<\/strong> Gretzky strikes for five points again in a 6-2 win over the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/nhl-teams\/coyotes\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Winnipeg Jets<\/a> in Game 5 of the Smythe semis.<\/p>\n<p><strong>1991:<\/strong> This time with the Kings, Gretzky gets four assists in a 7-4 Game 5 win over the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/nhl-teams\/canucks\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Vancouver Canucks<\/a>. His four helpers push him over 200 post-season assists for The Great One.<\/p>\n<p><strong>1996:<\/strong> Detroit beat the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/nhl-teams\/blackhawks\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Chicago Blackhawks<\/a> 5-3 to get the NHL record for wins with 61. The Wings also tie the 1975-76 Flyers for most home wins with 36.<\/p>\n<p><strong>2008: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/c\/chelich01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Chris Chelios<\/a><\/strong> suits up for his 248th career post-season game. The American breaks <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/r\/roypa01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Patrick Roy<\/a>&#8216;s previous record in a 4-2 win over the Nashville Predators.<\/p>\n<p><strong>2017: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/l\/lundqhe01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Henrik Lundqvist<\/a><\/strong> gets the Rangers first post-season shutout in Montreal in 67 years.
