We\u2019ll <\/span>remember the moments that shaped the sport of hockey that happened on this day. Here\u2019s our look at this date in hockey history for April 10th, featuring the Miracle on Manchester

Today in Hockey History<\/h2>\n

Kings Perform Miracle on Manchester<\/h3>\n

1982: The Los Angeles Kings<\/a> rally from five goals down to beat the Edmonton Oilers,<\/a> 6-5, in overtime of Game 3 of the Smythe Division semifinals. Los Angeles rallied by scoring five in the third period.<\/p>\n

Steve Bozek<\/a><\/strong> stuffs a rebound past Grant Fuhr<\/a><\/strong> with five seconds left in regulation. Daryl Evans<\/a><\/strong> scores 2:35 into overtime to cap the improbable comeback. The win would give the Kings a shocking two games to one series lead. Los Angeles would hold off Edmonton to upset the division champions in five games. The Kings post-season run would end in the next round to the Vancouver Canucks.<\/a><\/p>\n

Other Notable Events<\/h3>\n

1934:<\/strong> The Chicago Blackhawks<\/a> win the Stanley Cup for the first time with a 1-0 overtime win in Game 4 over the Detroit Red Wings<\/a>. Charlie Gardiner<\/a><\/strong> gets the shutout and je<\/strong><\/a> scores in double OT to secure the Cup.<\/p>\n

1956:<\/strong> The Montreal Canadiens<\/a> take their fifth straight Stanley Cup with a 3-1 victory in Game 5. Jean Beliveau<\/a><\/strong> gets a goal and an assist for the Habs as they beat the Red Wings.<\/p>\n

1982:<\/strong> Vancouver wins its first playoff series as it sweeps the Calgary Flames,<\/a> 3-1, in Game 3. Thomas Gradin<\/a><\/strong> scores twice to complete the three-game sweep.<\/p>\n

1990:<\/strong> The Kings have three players with hat tricks in a 12-4 win over the Flames. Dave Taylor<\/a>, Tony Granato<\/a><\/strong> and Tomas Sandstrom<\/a><\/strong> each score three times in Game 4 of the Smythe semis.<\/p>\n

1991: Wayne Gretzky<\/a><\/strong> becomes the all-time leading playoff scorer with 93 goals. Los Angeles would beat the Canucks, 6-1.<\/p>\n

1993:<\/strong> The Pittsburgh Penguins<\/a> get their 17th straight win in a 4-2 victory over the New York Rangers<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The Ottawa Senators<\/a> snap their record 38-game road losing streak with 5-3 win over the New York Islanders<\/a>. Laurie Boschman<\/a><\/strong> scores twice in the final minute to complete a hat trick for the Sens.<\/p>\n

1996:<\/strong> Detroit ties Montreal for the most wins in a season with 60 as they beat the Winnipeg Jets, 5-2. The Red Wings would win the final two games to set the new record.<\/p>\n

2003:<\/b> Jean-Sebastien Giguere<\/a><\/strong> sets a post-season record for saves with 63 as the Anaheim Ducks<\/a> stun the Red Wings 2-1 in OT. Paul Kariya<\/a><\/strong> gets the overtime-winner in the third overtime as the Ducks steam Game 1.
