We\u2019ll <\/span>remember the moments that shaped the sport of hockey that happened on this day. Here\u2019s our look at this date in hockey history for April 3rd, featuring<\/span> Darryl Sittler<\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Today in Hockey History<\/h2>\n

Darryl Sittler Gets 100 Points for Leafs<\/h3>\n

1976: The Toronto Maple Leafs<\/a> forward is the first to 100 points in team history after a second-period assist. Toronto got a goal from Sittler in the first period for his 99th point. Sittler would assist on a power-play marker by Errol Thompson<\/a><\/strong> to reach the milestone in a 4-2 win over the Boston Bruins<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The Leafs are the last of the “Original Six” teams to get a 100-point scorer. Sittler gets to his 100th point just two months shy of his 10-point game on Feb. 7.<\/p>\n

Other Notable Events<\/h3>\n

1933: Ken Doraty<\/a><\/strong> scores at 104:46 overtime to give the Leafs a 1-0 win over the Bruins in Game 5 of the Stanley Cup semifinal. It was the longest game to date until March 24-25 game between the Montreal Maroons and Detroit Red Wings<\/a>. Lorne Chabot<\/a><\/strong> would get his fourth playoff shutout for Toronto.<\/p>\n

1966: Bobby Hull<\/a><\/strong> of the Chicago Blackhawks<\/a> gets an assist to break the record for most points in a season. Hull nets an assist in a 4-2 loss to the Bruins to eclipse Dickie Moore<\/a>‘s record with his 97th point.<\/p>\n

1971: Bobby Orr<\/a><\/strong> assists on three goals to be the first NHL player with 100 assists in Boston’s 8-3 win over Toronto.<\/p>\n

1977:<\/strong> It’s a historic night for the Montreal Canaidens<\/a> as Steve Shutt<\/a><\/strong> gets his 60th goal, which is the most for a left win. Guy Lafleur<\/a><\/strong> sets a franchise record for points with 136 and team gets a record 132 points. Montreal would beat the Washington Capitals<\/a>, 2-1.<\/p>\n

1989: Hakan Loob<\/a><\/strong> of the Calgary Flames<\/a> is the first Swedish player to 50 goals in a season. Calgary would get a 3-1 win over the Minnesota North Stars<\/a>. Loob would get a late power-play goal to get the record.<\/p>\n

Mario Lemieux<\/a><\/strong> of the Pittsburgh Penguins<\/a> is the fourth player to score 70 goals in a season as the Pens beat the Hartford Whalers,<\/a> 4-2.<\/p>\n

2018: Patrik Laine<\/a><\/strong> of the Winnipeg Jets<\/a> scores his 44th goal of the season in 5-4 victory over the Canadiens. He is the third teenager to score 80 goals as he joins Jimmy Carson<\/a><\/strong> (92) and Dale Hawerchuk<\/a><\/strong> (85).<\/p>\n
