Here\u2019s our look at this date in hockey history for March 28th, featuring<\/span><strong> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/r\/roypa01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Patrick Roy<\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h2>Today in Hockey History<\/h2>\n<h3>Patrick Roy Gets 506th Victory<\/h3>\n<p><strong>1999:<\/strong> The <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/nhl-teams\/avalanche\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Colorado Avalanche<\/a> goalie becomes the all-time winningest goalie in playoff and regular season history. Roy would make 24 saves as the Avs would beat the<a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/nhl-teams\/kings\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"> Los Angeles Kings<\/a>, 7-2. The win would be the 506th of his career combining regular season and post-season wins.<\/p>\n<p>Roy would break the tie he held with <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/nhl-teams\/canadiens\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Montreal Canadien<\/a>s goalie and Hall of Famer <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/p\/plantja01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Jacques Plante<\/a>.<\/strong> He would win a combined 702 games before he called it a career.<\/p>\n<h3>Other Notable Events<\/h3>\n<p><strong>1944: <\/strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/b\/bentldo01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Doug Bentley<\/strong><\/a> is the first <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/nhl-teams\/blackhawks\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Chicago Blackhawks<\/a> player to get three goals in a post-season game. Chicago would beat the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/nhl-teams\/red-wings\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Detroit Red Wings<\/a> in Game 4 of the Stanley Cup semifinals. He&#8217;d repeat the feat three days later in the deciding Game 5.<\/p>\n<p><strong>1967:<\/strong> Both <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/m\/mikitst01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Stan Mikita<\/a><\/strong> and <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/h\/howego01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Gordie Howe<\/a> <\/strong>make history in the Blackhawks 7-2 win over the Red Wings. Mikita breaks his own record for assists in a season with 60 while Howe is the first player to reach 1,500 points.<\/p>\n<p><strong>1975:<\/strong> The <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/nhl-teams\/capitals\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Washington Capitals<\/a> win their only road game of the season with a 5-3 win over the California Seals.<\/p>\n<p><strong>1980: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/c\/cherrdo01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Don Cherry<\/a> <\/strong>gets his 250th and final win behind the bench as the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/nhl-teams\/devils\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Colorado Rockies<\/a>\u00a0beat the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/nhl-teams\/penguins\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Pittsburgh Penguins<\/a>, 5-0.<\/p>\n<p><strong>1982: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/g\/gretzwa01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Wayne Gretzky<\/a> <\/strong>scores his 92nd goal of the season in the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/nhl-teams\/oilers\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Edmonton Oilers<\/a> 6-2 victory over the Kings. He scored 16 more than the previous record-holder <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/e\/esposph01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Phil Esposito<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>1996:<\/strong> Gretzky gets 100 points for the 15th and final time in his career in the<a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/nhl-teams\/blues\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"> St. Louis Blues<\/a> 4-4 with the New Jersey Devils.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/j\/jagrja01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Jaromir Jagr<\/a> <\/strong>sets the record for most points by a European as the Penguins beat the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/nhl-teams\/panthers\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Florida Panthers<\/a>, 3-2. Jagr would record his 140th point to pass <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/s\/stastpe01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Peter Stastny<\/strong><\/a>&#8216;s mark set in 1981-82.<\/p>\n<p><strong>2019: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/d\/draisle01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Leon Draisaitl<\/a><\/strong> is the first German player to reach 100 points in Edmonton&#8217;s 3-2 loss to the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/nhl-teams\/stars\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Dallas Stars<\/a>.
