We\u2019ll <\/span>remember the moments that shaped the sport of hockey that happened on this day. Here\u2019s our look at this date in hockey history for March 27th, featuring Chris Chelios<\/a><\/strong>.

Today in Hockey History<\/h2>\n

Chris Chelios<\/a> Plays 400th Game for Third Team<\/h3>\n

2006:<\/strong> Chelios plays his 400th game for his third different team in the Detroit Red Wings 4-1 win over the St. Louis Blues<\/a>. The American defenceman played 664 games with the rival Chicago Blackhawks<\/a> and 402 with the Montreal Canadiens<\/a>.<\/p>\n

He didn’t register a point in 23:07 of ice time for the Red Wings. Chelios would play 578 games for Detroit and retire in 2009-10 after a seven-game stint with the Atlanta Thrashers<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Other Notable Events<\/h3>\n

1952: Turk Broda<\/a><\/strong> of the Toronto Maple Leafs<\/a> is the first goalie to play in 100 post-season game. The Leafs would lose 1-0 to the Red Wings in Game 2 of the Stanley Cup semifinals.<\/p>\n

1973: Mickey Redmond<\/a><\/strong> is the first Red Wings player to get 50 goals in a season. Redmond would score twice to get his 50th and 51st goals of the season in an 8-1 rout of the Maple Leafs. He’d end up with 52 goals for the season.<\/p>\n

1974:<\/strong> The Boston Bruins<\/a> are the first team to win 50 games in four straight seasons as they beat the New York Rangers,<\/a> 3-2.<\/p>\n

1980: Ray Bourque<\/a><\/strong> sets a rookie record for points by a rookie defenceman with his 61st. The Bruins would down the Blues, 7-1, at Boston Garden. However, the record wouldn’t stand long as Larry Murphy<\/a><\/strong> would get 76 points with the Los Angeles Kings.<\/a><\/p>\n

1993:<\/strong> Sherry Ross is the first woman to do play-by-play of an NHL game. Ross would step in for Gary Thorne, who’s flight was delayed, to call the game. The New Jersey Devils<\/a> would beat the Washington Capitals,<\/a> 5-2.<\/p>\n

2002: Phil Housley<\/a><\/strong> is the first American-born player and fourth defenceman to get 1,200 points. Housley would score the winning goal as the Blackhawks beat the Nashville Predators<\/a>, 4-1.<\/p>\n

2003: Patrick Roy<\/a> <\/strong>gets his 6th and final shutout of his career as the Colorado Avalanche<\/a> blanked the Kings, 3-0.<\/p>\n
