Here\u2019s our look at this date in hockey history for March 27th, featuring <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/c\/chelich01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Chris Chelios<\/a><\/strong>.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<h2>Today in Hockey History<\/h2>\n<h3><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/c\/chelich01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Chris Chelios<\/a> Plays 400th Game for Third Team<\/h3>\n<p><strong>2006:<\/strong> Chelios plays his 400th game for his third different team in the Detroit Red Wings 4-1 win over the<a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/nhl-teams\/blues\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"> St. Louis Blues<\/a>. The American defenceman played 664 games with the rival <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/nhl-teams\/blackhawks\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Chicago Blackhawks<\/a> and 402 with the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/nhl-teams\/canadiens\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Montreal Canadiens<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>He didn&#8217;t register a point in 23:07 of ice time for the Red Wings. Chelios would play 578 games for Detroit and retire in 2009-10 after a seven-game stint with the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/nhl-teams\/jets\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Atlanta Thrashers<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h3>Other Notable Events<\/h3>\n<p><strong>1952: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/b\/brodatu01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Turk Broda<\/a><\/strong> of the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/nhl-teams\/maple-leafs\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Toronto Maple Leafs<\/a> is the first goalie to play in 100 post-season game. The Leafs would lose 1-0 to the Red Wings in Game 2 of the Stanley Cup semifinals.<\/p>\n<p><strong>1973: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/r\/redmomi01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Mickey Redmond<\/a><\/strong> is the first Red Wings player to get 50 goals in a season. Redmond would score twice to get his 50th and 51st goals of the season in an 8-1 rout of the Maple Leafs. He&#8217;d end up with 52 goals for the season.<\/p>\n<p><strong>1974:<\/strong> The <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/nhl-teams\/bruins\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Boston Bruins<\/a> are the first team to win 50 games in four straight seasons as they beat the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/nhl-teams\/rangers\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">New York Rangers,<\/a> 3-2.<\/p>\n<p><strong>1980: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/b\/bourqra01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Ray Bourque<\/a><\/strong> sets a rookie record for points by a rookie defenceman with his 61st. The Bruins would down the Blues, 7-1, at Boston Garden. However, the record wouldn&#8217;t stand long as <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/m\/murphla01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Larry Murphy<\/a><\/strong> would get 76 points with the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/nhl-teams\/kings\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Los Angeles Kings.<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>1993:<\/strong> Sherry Ross is the first woman to do play-by-play of an NHL game. Ross would step in for Gary Thorne, who&#8217;s flight was delayed, to call the game. The <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/nhl-teams\/devils\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">New Jersey Devils<\/a> would beat the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/nhl-teams\/capitals\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Washington Capitals,<\/a> 5-2.<\/p>\n<p><strong>2002: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/h\/houslph01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Phil Housley<\/a><\/strong> is the first American-born player and fourth defenceman to get 1,200 points.
