We\u2019ll <\/span>remember the moments that shaped the sport of hockey that happened on this day. Here\u2019s our look at this date in hockey history for March 25th, featuring<\/span> Wayne Gretzky<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Today in Hockey History<\/h2>\n

Wayne Gretzky Gets 200 Points<\/h3>\n

1982:<\/strong> The Great One is the first to reach the unthinkable 200-point mark in the Edmonton Oilers<\/a> 7-2 rout over the Calgary Flames.<\/a> Gretzky gets the 200th point on an assist for Pat Hughes<\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n

He also assists on bodyguard Dave Semenko<\/a><\/strong>‘s goal, but that’s not all the records for Gretzky. No. 99 sets a record with two shorthanded goals in a span of 27 seconds. He would end up with 203 points by the end of the night. Gretzky finishes the season with 212 points.<\/p>\n

Other Notable Events<\/h3>\n

1924:<\/strong> The Montreal Canadiens<\/a> beat the Calgary Tigers, 3-0, in Game 2 of the Stanley Cup Final to win the title. Georges Vezina<\/a><\/strong> gets the shutout.<\/p>\n

1943: Busher Jackson<\/a><\/strong> scores the first shorthanded goal in overtime as the Boston Bruins<\/a> beat the Habs, 3-2, in Game 3 of the Stanley Cup semifinals.<\/p>\n

1951: Alex Delvecchio<\/a><\/strong> debuts in a banner night for the Detroit Red Wings<\/a> in a 5-0 win over the Canadiens. Terry Sawchuk<\/a><\/strong> gets his 11th shutout as the Wings are the first team to get 100 points in a season.<\/p>\n

1962: Bobby Hull<\/a><\/strong> is the third player to get 50 goals in a season as the Chicago Blackhawks<\/a> in a 4-1 win over the New York Rangers.<\/a><\/p>\n

1972:<\/strong> Hull joins Gordie Howe<\/a><\/strong> as the only two players to get 600 goals in their careers. Chicago ties Boston, 5-5, as Gerry Cheevers<\/a><\/strong> extends his unbeaten run to 32 games. (24 wins and eight ties.)<\/p>\n

1994: Brett Hull<\/a><\/strong> scores 50 goals for the fifth straight season as the St. Louis Blues<\/a> beat the Dallas Stars,<\/a> 5-3. Hull would score three times to complete his 21st hat trick.<\/p>\n

1995: Scotty Bowman<\/strong> is the first coach to win 900 games as the Red Wings beat the Vancouver Canucks<\/a>, 2-1.<\/p>\n

2004: Roberto Luongo<\/a><\/strong> sets the mark for most saves in a season with 2,219 in the Florida Panthers<\/a> 3-2 defeat to the Carolina Hurricanes<\/a> by stopping 42 shots. He finished with 2,303<\/p>\n
