Here\u2019s our look at this date in hockey history for March 25th, featuring<\/span> <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/g\/gretzwa01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Wayne Gretzky<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h2>Today in Hockey History<\/h2>\n<h3>Wayne Gretzky Gets 200 Points<\/h3>\n<p><strong>1982:<\/strong> The Great One is the first to reach the unthinkable 200-point mark in the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/nhl-teams\/oilers\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Edmonton Oilers<\/a> 7-2 rout over the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/nhl-teams\/flames\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Calgary Flames.<\/a> Gretzky gets the 200th point on an assist for<strong> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/h\/hughepa01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Pat Hughes<\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>He also assists on bodyguard<strong> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/s\/semenda01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Dave Semenko<\/a><\/strong>&#8216;s goal, but that&#8217;s not all the records for Gretzky. No. 99 sets a record with two shorthanded goals in a span of 27 seconds. He would end up with 203 points by the end of the night. Gretzky finishes the season with 212 points.<\/p>\n<h3>Other Notable Events<\/h3>\n<p><strong>1924:<\/strong> The <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/nhl-teams\/canadiens\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Montreal Canadiens<\/a> beat the Calgary Tigers, 3-0, in Game 2 of the Stanley Cup Final to win the title. <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/v\/vezinge01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Georges Vezina<\/a><\/strong> gets the shutout.<\/p>\n<p><strong>1943: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/j\/jacksbu01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Busher Jackson<\/a><\/strong> scores the first shorthanded goal in overtime as the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/nhl-teams\/bruins\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Boston Bruins<\/a> beat the Habs, 3-2, in Game 3 of the Stanley Cup semifinals.<\/p>\n<p><strong>1951: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/d\/delveal01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Alex Delvecchio<\/a><\/strong> debuts in a banner night for the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/nhl-teams\/red-wings\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Detroit Red Wings<\/a> in a 5-0 win over the Canadiens.<strong> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/s\/sawchte01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Terry Sawchuk<\/a><\/strong> gets his 11th shutout as the Wings are the first team to get 100 points in a season.<\/p>\n<p><strong>1962: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/h\/hullbo01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Bobby Hull<\/a><\/strong> is the third player to get 50 goals in a season as the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/nhl-teams\/blackhawks\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Chicago Blackhawks<\/a> in a 4-1 win over the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/nhl-teams\/rangers\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">New York Rangers.<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>1972:<\/strong> Hull joins <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/h\/howego01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Gordie Howe<\/a><\/strong> as the only two players to get 600 goals in their careers.
