Here\u2019s our look at this date in hockey history for March 21st, featuring<\/span> <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/s\/selante01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Teemu Selanne<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h2>Today in Hockey History<\/h2>\n<h3>Teemu Selanne Scores 600th Career Goal<\/h3>\n<p>2010: The<a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/nhl-teams\/ducks\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"> Anaheim Ducks<\/a> Finnish winger gets No. 600 in a 5-2 win over the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/nhl-teams\/avalanche\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Colorado Avalanche<\/a>. Selanne scored a power-play goal 34 seconds into the second period after a mad scramble in front. He then put the puck past <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/a\/andercr01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Craig Anderson<\/a><\/strong> to become only the third European after <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/k\/kurrija01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Jari Kurri<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/j\/jagrja01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Jaromir Jagr<\/a> to get 600 goals.<\/p>\n<p>The &#8220;Finnish Flash&#8221; ended his career with 684 goals when he retired after the 2013-14 season. He was elected to the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2017.<\/p>\n<h3>Other Notable Events<\/h3>\n<p><strong>1921:<\/strong> The Vancouver Millionaires beat the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/nhl-teams\/senators\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Ottawa Senators,<\/a> 2-1, in the first game of the Stanley Cup Final as 11,000 fans pack the Vancouver Arena. It&#8217;s the largest crowd to watch a hockey game at the time.<\/p>\n<p><strong>1939: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/h\/hillme01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Mel Hill<\/a><\/strong> of the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/nhl-teams\/bruins\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Boston Bruins<\/a> scores 59:52 into overtime as the B&#8217;s beat the<a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/nhl-teams\/rangers\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"> New York Ranger<\/a>s in Game 1 of the Stanley Cup semifinal. The rookie would score three overtime-goals to help Boston win the series in seven.<\/p>\n<p><strong>1951:<\/strong> The Canadian Broadcasting Corporation televises an NHL game for the first time. That game between the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/nhl-teams\/canadiens\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Montreal Canadiens<\/a> and the host <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/nhl-teams\/maple-leafs\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Toronto Maple Leafs<\/a> is seen by six people. CBC had its cameras transmit images to television in the radio control room at Maple Leaf Gardens.<\/p>\n<p><strong>1973:<\/strong> The Habs <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/m\/mahovfr01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Frank Mahovlich<\/a><\/strong> scores his 500th goal in a 3-2 victory over the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/nhl-teams\/canucks\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Vancouver Canucks<\/a>. Mahovlich would beat<strong> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/w\/wilsodu01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Dunc Wilson<\/a><\/strong> to score the milestone goal.<\/p>\n<p><strong>1974:<\/strong> The Bruins&#8217; <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/o\/orrbo01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Bobby Orr<\/a><\/strong> scores a hat trick to reach the 30-goal mark in Boston&#8217;s 7-0 shutout of the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/nhl-teams\/blues\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">St. Louis Blues.<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>1985:<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/nhl-teams\/capitals\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Washington Capitals<\/a> forward<a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/c\/carpebo01.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong> Bobby Carpenter<\/strong><\/a> is the first American to score 50 goals in a season. The Caps would lose 3-2 to the Canadiens.<\/p>\n<p><strong>1991: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/t\/tugnuro01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Ron Tugnutt<\/a><\/strong> of the Quebec Nordiques stopped 70 shots as they would tie the Bruins, 3-3. Boston outshot Quebec, 73-26.<\/p>\n<p><strong>2002: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/b\/brodema01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Martin Brodeur<\/a><\/strong> of the<a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/nhl-teams\/devils\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"> New Jersey Devils<\/a> earns his seventh straight 30-win season in a 4-3 win over the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/nhl-teams\/predators\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Nashville Predators<\/a>.
