We\u2019ll <\/span>remember the moments that shaped the sport of hockey that happened on this day. Here\u2019s our look at this date in hockey history for March 19th, featuring<\/span> Brett Hull<\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Today in Hockey History<\/h2>\n

Brett Hull<\/a> Scores 80th Goal of 1990-91 Season<\/h3>\n

1991:<\/strong> Hull scored his 80th goal of the season in the St. Louis Blues<\/a> 2-1 victory over the Washington Capitals<\/a>. Hull beats goalie Don Beaupre<\/a><\/strong> with a power-play marker in the first period.<\/p>\n

Hull would be the third person after Wayne Gretzky<\/a><\/strong> and Mario Lemieux<\/a><\/strong> to eclipse 80 in a season. The “Golden Brett” would finish with 86 goals and 131 points for the campaign.<\/p>\n

Other Notable Events<\/h3>\n

1932: Howie Morenz<\/a><\/strong> of the Montreal Canadiens<\/a> passes Cy Denneny<\/a> <\/strong>as the league’s all-time leading scorer. He gets a goal and three assists in the Habs’ 6-4 victory over the Montreal Maroons. Morenz would finish with 472 career points.<\/p>\n

1960: Johnny Bower<\/a><\/strong> sets a Toronto Maple Leafs<\/a> record with his 33rd win of the season in goal. Bower would help the Leafs blank the Chicago Blackhawks<\/a>, 1-0, at Maple Leaf Gardens. He would break the record of 32 held by both Turk Broda<\/strong><\/a> and Harold Lumley.<\/strong><\/p>\n

1969:<\/strong> The legendary Gordie Howe<\/a><\/strong> of the Detroit Red Wings<\/a> breaks his own record of points by a right wing in a 4-4 tie with the Oakland Seals. Howe would get a goal and an assist to get 96 points in a season. He set the record (95) in the 1952-53 season.<\/p>\n

1978: Phil Esposito<\/a><\/strong> is the second player to get 1,400 career points in the Boston Bruins<\/a> 7-7 tie with the New York Rangers<\/a>. Esposito reaches the mark with an assist.<\/p>\n

1981:<\/strong> The Buffalo Sabres<\/a> set a record for most goals in a period with nine in a 14-4 drubbing of Toronto. Andre Savard<\/a> <\/strong>and Gilbert Perreault<\/a><\/strong> each get a hat trick.<\/p>\n

2007: Jaromir Jagr<\/a><\/strong> is the first player to score 25 goals in his first 16 seasons in the league. He’d score with 33.8 seconds left as the Rangers beat the Penguins, 2-1, at Madison Square Garden. Jagr would score 25 the next season to make it 17 seasons in a row.<\/p>\n

2014: Joel Quenneville<\/a> <\/strong>picks up his 700th career coaching win as the Blackhawks shut out the Blues, 4-0. He joined Al Arbour<\/a><\/strong> and Scotty Bowman<\/strong> in the 700-win club.<\/p>\n
