The Knights acquire goaltender Robin Lehner for a second-round pick, Subban and Slava Demin.

Key Players

Robin Lehner, Malcolm Subban, Slava Demin

The Vegas get one of the league’s best starting goaltenders in Lehner. He has consistently been one of the best goalies over the past two seasons with the New York Islanders and Chicago Blackhawks. Over his ten-year NHL career, Lehner has played for the Ottawa Senators, Buffalo Sabres, New York Islanders, and Chicago Blackhawks. He has put up a 113-120-45 career record in 298 career appearances with 279 career starts. He also has a 2.73 goals-against average, 0.918 save percentage, and 14 shutouts. Lehner has a career 4-5 record in ten career Stanley Cup Playoff games with eight starts. He has a 2.05 goals-against average, 0.934 save percentage and no shutouts.

This season, Lehner played in 33 games with 31 starts for the Blackhawks. He put up a 16-10-5 record with a 3.01 goals against average and 0.918 save percentage and no shutouts this season.

What This Means for the Future

Lehner instantly improves the goaltending on any team he is on. Among the leagues best, he can help make a deep playoff run this season. Lehner solidifies the goaltending situation moving forward for Vegas.

This will be Lehner’s fourth team over three seasons, which is not common for one of the best goalies in the NHL. He has been moving around a lot in recent years after Buffalo moved on from him and the Islanders didn’t keep him.

Main photo:
Embed from Getty Images

The Chicago Blackhawks have agreed to trade goaltender Robin Lehner to the Vegas Golden Knights in exchange for a 2nd round pick, Malcolm Subban and Slava Demin, who is currently playing with the University of Denver.
