The team has already signed a large majority of them to long-term deals, including <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/h\/huberjo01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Jonathan Huberdeau<\/a><\/strong>. He finished the season with 20 goals and 39 assists in 76 games. The goals and 59 points are a career high for the young forward.<\/p>\n<p>He also contributed with one goal and two assists in six playoff games. Huberdeau was\u00a0a part of the team&#8217;s most dominant line when he was paired with <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/b\/barkoal01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Aleksander Barkov<\/a><\/strong> and <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/j\/jagrja01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Jaromir Jagr<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Huberdeau was drafted\u00a0third overall in the <strong>2011 NHL Entry Draft<\/strong>. He is entering his fifth year in the <strong>NHL<\/strong>. His career spans 272 games where he has recorded 58 goals and 114 assists for a total of 172 points.<\/p>\n<p>Before the new extension, Huberdeau had been signed to a two year deal worth $6.25 million last season. He will be playing the last year of this deal this upcoming season before the extension kicks in.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s so much better for the team and his teammates. There\u2019s room for improvement [for Huberdeau].&#8221; Panthers GM <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sun-sentinel.com\/sports\/florida-panthers\/fl-panthers-huberdeau-0917-20150916-story.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Dave Tallon said<\/a> last year. &#8220;With Barkov and Jagr how they finished, it\u2019s a chance to hit a home run here. I like to have guys hungry. That will keep him alert and ready to go. It\u2019s a good bridge contract, very fair.\u2019\u2019<\/p>\n<p>He is one highlight of a young Panthers core that has been locked up for years to come. Huberdeau&#8217;s deal\u00a0is the exact same deal that Barkov signed just last year. He also joins <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/t\/trochvi01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Vincent Trocheck<\/a><\/strong>, <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/b\/bjugsni01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Nick Bjugstad<\/a><\/strong>, <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/s\/smithre01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Reilly Smith<\/a><\/strong> and <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/e\/ekblaaa01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Aaron Ekblad<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0who also have long-term deals. The team has their young talent signed through at least 2021.<\/p>\n<p>With those moves, as well as some recent off-season moves, the Panthers\u00a0are not only on the rise but a potential Stanley Cup contender as well.
